Kratos And Xerxes(even if he is a she)

We lost our little man on Friday OUTSIDE! I had let Kratos out of his cage because he was going stir crazy. He wanted to go outside...now that the weather has been nice I put him out in his cage everyday....however friday I just let him roam in the house because I was in a hurry. NOW I wish I would have taken the time to put him out in his cage. I didn't realize when I let him out that one of the kids opened on of the windows that I had taken the screens off to wash and hadn't put back on. The windows are only 11 inches from the floor and are his favorite basking spot in the house. I left him out while I ran errands because our living rooms where he roams are totally safe and there is nowhere for him to hide. When we came home my son started looking for him and we quickly realized that he had gotten out. We looked all over our back yard and went to the neighbors houses. I've talked to the neighbors behind us and on our court, I put an add on craigslist, and today I'm putting up flyers around the neighborhood. My fear is that a cat or hawk got him and I'm just worried sick. Those of you who have lost your beardies outside and found them, what were the temps outside, and how far from home did they get? Can you think of anything else that I should be doing?

Im sure your story will give others hope that have lost their beardie also, which is gooood. Congrats on finding him. :mrgreen:

I really hope so! I know every situation is different but we live in an area where the streets are mainly courts and every house is landscaped. He really didn't get too far in the three weeks...he was only about 5 houses away from us but again behind us. When we pulled up to the house he was sitting on top of the bush in there front yard. It was 100 degrees here yesterday and it was 630 when they called. I had only been looking for him in the mornings.....and although I knew it was possible he'd be out yesterday I wasn't looking for him that late in the evenings. I think the reason we got him back is that every court shares community mailboxes and I taped a flyer to both sides of all the mailboxes in the neighborhood. People really do care..I had a bunch of calls and all my neighbors on my street ask all the time if I had found him yet.

OMG, that is so awesome that Kratos is back! I think it's very lucky for him that you live where it's WARM! :wink: Still gets pretty cold around here in Massachusetts at night! Brrrr! Not good for a beardie to escape in these parts! So glad for you and your family that he's home safe!!!

Thank goodness, I have been signing on non stop to see if Kratos and LB have made it home. So Glad both little beardies have made it safe and sound! I'm sure Kratos had a much bigger adventure since LB was lost inside the house. YEAH!!! Thanks for keeping us posted :lol:

Again thanks everyone! Kratos seems to be doing well, I would officially say he is happy to be home. He's gone outside on his leash and was spooked rather fast and when my daughter brought him back inside he calmed down and cuddled on her chest for a long while. I have a feeling he knows he's safe now. Anyhow, I'm not sure how much he ate while he was gone...or if a blockage is a real worry, and I'm pretty sure he has a high parasite count as well. He went potty yesterday but only urates came out, he seemed to struggle poor guy, and the smell was horrid. I'm not sure if he was struggling because he was dehydrated or not, so for now he is only getting baby food and I will be taking in a stool sample asap or if he continues to struggle he will be going in to the vet. :-?

Kratos is doing much better thanks for asking. I haven't taken him into the vet I'm kind of still just keeping an eye on him. He's eating well and he has been able to poo, so I'm hoping that his struggles were from dehydration. He's been getting long soaks everyday along with with baby food so I think things are coming along and I did let him have two dubias yesterday. I didn't mention before that he had lightened up considerably and I was wondering if it was from dehydration or if he was gonna shed, I believe he was very dehydrated poor guy. I don't know what it is about him but he dehydrates very easy and daily baths are a must.
