Kratos And Xerxes(even if he is a she)

We lost our little man on Friday OUTSIDE! I had let Kratos out of his cage because he was going stir crazy. He wanted to go outside...now that the weather has been nice I put him out in his cage everyday....however friday I just let him roam in the house because I was in a hurry. NOW I wish I would have taken the time to put him out in his cage. I didn't realize when I let him out that one of the kids opened on of the windows that I had taken the screens off to wash and hadn't put back on. The windows are only 11 inches from the floor and are his favorite basking spot in the house. I left him out while I ran errands because our living rooms where he roams are totally safe and there is nowhere for him to hide. When we came home my son started looking for him and we quickly realized that he had gotten out. We looked all over our back yard and went to the neighbors houses. I've talked to the neighbors behind us and on our court, I put an add on craigslist, and today I'm putting up flyers around the neighborhood. My fear is that a cat or hawk got him and I'm just worried sick. Those of you who have lost your beardies outside and found them, what were the temps outside, and how far from home did they get? Can you think of anything else that I should be doing?

I'll try to post more pics of the boys soon. I want to get a video of this lil man trying to eat. It's sad because he has a hard time eating his food. However, when he's tried and failed a couple times he will do this funny little back up thing and then reposition himself, cracks me up. I love that he keeps trying.

Bad news/good news is
The vet called yesterday and he has pinworms. I'm so happy that he doesn't have cociddia or tapeworms, I thought it was possible that he might have tapeworms.

The good news is that he ate most of his salad yesterday! I'm super thrilled about that! :blob5: :blob8: :blob5: :blob8:

Well that's it for now Ill keep you posted on the name and I'll post pics soon.

Well, at least it's only pinworms. My impression is that beardies get pinworms like kids get colds. Keep getting that healthy grub (both literal and figurative grub) into him and he will be just fine! His will to work out the best way to eat is a good sign, I think!

That's a good report! I think the pinworms are pretty easily taken care of and very common. Both of mine had them, gave them panacur for a week and done! He sounds like he's doing great in spite of the jaw problem. :blob5: Can't wait to see pics... a video of Kratos flippin his nut would be fun to watch (hint-hint!)

Love the way this little one eats. He does this almost every time I feed him.

We finally settled on the name Xerxes, I wanted to name him Leonidas but I can except Xerxes since its a greek name as well.

I like that name! So now you have a warrior and a king! Kratos is definitely living up to his name! He certainly seems ready to do battle with all that head bobbin' and blackbearding, doesn't he? :laughing6:

Wow I've been gone for about 3 weeks and there has been good news and some horrible news that I've read so far. I need to catch up on some of my favorite beardies around here. We have been remodeling the bathroom (still not done)...and in the mist of all that my dog ate something out of the tile guys garbage pile and ended up poisoned. He ended up at the vets office for 3 days, and that cost us a pretty penny. We have had a busy last few weeks....im really hoping the bathroom is done this week....but i think it will be two more...and then my life will resume a some what normal state. :D

Kratos seems to be doing much better with Xerxes. He still stresses out but no where near as bad. He still rules the roost around here and is quite spoil, the kids take him on outings with us every chance they get.
I'm on my last week of treatment of pinworms for Xerxes but I don't think its helped him one bit, he now has horrible diarrhea sigh. So I'm wondering if the meds I had on hand were expired or if he has cociddia. All of this and his appetite hasn't suffered, he is a bottomless pit I tell ya! I have been let him eat as many buggies as he can a couple days a week and he will kill 30-50 good size dubia's nymphs in a sitting. I'm trying to put some weight on him but its been a slow process.

Wow, sounds like it's been a little crazy for you lately! I hope things simmer down soon for you. Poor pooch! :( Overnights are never cheap... sorry you had to go through that expense on top of the remodeling! :| Hope he's okay now! And Xerxes...oh boy! Maybe it's a reaction to the meds and nothing else? Hope that's all it is. Or maybe his body may be adjusting to the new foods he's getting regularly now too? Just guessing. How's the skin looking, where it looked like it may be fungal? Any better? I'm glad Kratos isn't stressing as much. Stress is never a good thing for a beardie OR a human! I hope things start to get back to normal for you soon. Construction is a HUGE pain in the butt and almost always never goes "as scheduled" and then there's the dust, oh the dust! :angry5: Been there, done that! Good Luck Jewls!! Keep us posted on "the kids"!

Well I'm not sure at this point what to think about his skin. The vet said that she didn't think it was fungal but I wasn't sure. BUT he is getting ready to shed in certain spots...all was looking well but then the skin turned pinkish and now that he shed his skin is a little dark/blackish in those spots. I'm not sure what to think now..... :?

The last two days Kratos hasn't been eating much and he is acting kinda weird. I'm wondering if I need new lights. My meter readings are good but he acts all depressed until we take him out of his enclosure. He's fine as long as he is running around or is in his outside cage. When he is in his enclosure he goes to the cool side and sulks.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
