Kiera -- pics update-again-9/27

I am going to work hard at doing better with posting updates here about Kiera than I did with Puff's thread. I just had thought I would have a good long time to update Puff's thread, and I have since learned otherwise, so I will try to be better about posting here, cuz' I want to share Kiera's life with everybeardie and everybody. It seems like my friends and coworkers don't get quite as excited about my beardie stories and pics as everyone here does :?
So...without further ado...here are some pics of Kiera just being darn cute this evening...

Today was my first day back to work since bringing her home, and I thought about her all day long. I had my daughter stop in to check on her to make sure her temps and her lights were ok. I left her 4 phoenix worms in her dish this morning to eat when she was ready, and she ate them all, and then this evening when I got home from work she ate another 10 crickets. I am so relieved that she is eating well. She also takes drops of water off of my finger!! Seems like she is settling in well!!

Will beardies overeat or will they stop eating when they are full? Kiera ate her phoenix worms again today while I was at work...I gave her four of them again...and tonight when I came home, she ate 18 small crickets!!!! I am so happy to see her eating like this, but I want to make sure I won't hurt her somehow by feeding her too much at one time. She also drank several drops of water off my finger. She is so different from how Puff was, in that he would not eat anything after the first couple of days at home, and even when I first brought him home he would only eat 3 or 4 crickets, and then he would be done. It finally had got to the point that I was handfeeding him babyfood chicken and squash because I was worried he was starving. Kind of makes me wonder if something had been wrong with him all along, but his poos were normal, and he ate the babyfood well.

Cindy, that is how a healthy baby beardie eats. We were doing 70 bugs in a FEEDING at one point. Let her eat what she wants, she won't make herself sick (although on treats you have to use common sense).

It is 9:45 Saturday morning, and I am wide awake and wanting to see my baby girl, but her lights have not come on yet and she is still sleeping...

Ok...I keep telling everybody else here that I want to see more pics of their beardies, so figured I better get on here and post more pics of Kiera! She is doing really well. This morning she ate 35 crickets!! Wow!!!! Puff never ate like she eats. I know I keep comparing them, but I am just amazed at how this little one eats!! I really am wondering more and more if there was something not quite right with my little Puff from the beginning, and not knowing alot about beardies, I just didn't realize it. The thing is though, he always seemed happy and content. He pooped regularly and he always had a nice creamy white belly.
The one strange thing he did, that I have not seen Kiera do, is when I would feed him his baby food(cuz' he wouldn't eat anything else), he would every so often do this whole body squirm kind of wriggling from side to side, starting with his head, and moving down the entire length of his body. I thought it was a swallowing maneuver...that after he took in a certain amount of food, he had to do that wiggle to move it down his digestive tract. He also did when he was eating his microsupers. I thought it was a normal beardie thing, but I have never seen Kiera do that.
Anyway, if anybody has any insight to add about that, please do share...
Also, here are Kiera's vital stats of as yesterday...she is 4 3/4" long and she weighs a whopping 5 grams!! I can't wait til next week to weigh her again and see how much she has gained!! The way she is eating, I have decided i am going to order crickets online for her, as well as Phoenix Worms...but being that Minnesota is in a deep freeze right now, i am stuck with paying the outrageous reptile store prices for now The really sad thing is they order their crickets from Ghann's so i know how cheap they get them for. At least their Phoenix worms are priced fairly-5.99 for 100 mediums, but they won't have any in until Wednesday I had a few left that I had for Puff, and Kiera eats them well too Before I know it she will be as big as Lance's Cali!!!

Great new pics! I just can't imagine any of my monsters being that tiny! I was afraid to start with babies but it would have be awesome to see them grow. (Not that I haven't seen mine grow) Her colors are gonna be gorgeous!

OK, another thought, she weighs 5 grams...Mine can poop that much in a day!!! Gross, I know but they have also had plenty of days where they have gained that much and more...Just puts things in perspective! :mrgreen:

LOL!!!! It does kind of put things in perspective. For more perspective, her body itself is a little smaller than a quarter. I was afraid to buy her at first and was looking at some babies that were bigger, but my eyes and my heart kept coming back to her. I just felt an instant bond with her. I think my sweet Puff had her picked out for me before I got to the store .
