Hello,
I'm relatively new to this website, though I have posted questions prior to this "blog." I fell in love with bearded dragons on a trip to Petco. I've always wanted a reptile and I have a dragon statue collection at home so it seemed perfect. Jace, however, was not my first beardie. My first beardie was one of the two smaller ones. The employees hadn't gotten around to putting on of the little ones up for adoption because he would have a seizure whenever he was picked up. They were pretty sure the one I had picked wasn't the seizure one. I bought him the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and am sad to say I returned him that following Monday. This one had seizures whenever he was put down. I knew, being a new owner, that it would be better for the both of us if I returned him to Petco and that was when I got Jace, the love of my life. On a side note, the two that suffered from seizures got adopted to loving homes where someone can take care of them :D . Anyways, on to my picture show.

This was my first night with Jace. He no longer has that cage - he is in a bigger one and on tiles instead.

I loved the way he just dug a bed and curled up.

That's it for now, but he's a very photogenic man so there will be more to follow.

Kristine:

First off, thanks, Kristine! It means a lot to me to have you to text. Unfortunately most of my real world friends I don't feel I can talk to about these things. Most of them have it well off or are worse off than I am. So neither group would really understand though I wish I had more people to talk with and talk it out with other than my therapist. One session a week is not enough!

I know I should go back to taking meds and set a reminder on my phone so every day I take them at the same time and don't forget and buy a weekly med box so I don't accidentally take multiple doses in one day.

I know, I know, I need to finish the vivs if not for myself then for Sorin and the leos. Sorin needs a real viv (He'll be getting Zy's old one) because he's been living in a pen and Nissa and Ava need bigger vivs so they would get a partitioned 40g.

I just feel like every time I go to save money something happens and I say buy buy money. Was nice knowing you.

Nope, as soon as I get the Christmas junk out of the way, then I can worry about myself. Forgot to budget myself for the reptile expo and I know I'll be decor shopping there. Supposedly they have a lot of stuff and for a good price - far better than the pet stores.

Love you too and take care! Thanks for being there for me!

Not to sound like a HUGE meany but...I was SO bummed when you said you were going to skip the MA reptile expo!!!!! :( Seriously. I've never been and I've been so excited every time I get a text asking if we're still going!

You're such an important pat of my life and my family. From vet visits, to making Paul feel awkward at work, to praying grandma isn't watching my husband taking pictures of my kids sitting over horse poop...you're like a relief to me. I just want to see you happy.

Honestly. Seeing you get to where you want to be, should be, will be...it's going to be amazing. I think a lot of people also get more of the "bummed Liz" than I do because I catch glimpses of the happy and excited Liz throughout the day. Life throws some crazy curve balls and YOU have handled everything with such grace.

You're right. Once a week probably isn't enough...as you said, maybe it just so happens to be a good day. I hope you try meds again, some days your ups and downs worry me...they're definitely not the average person's ups and downs. You'll be great though. I know you will do what is best for you. Not to mention, for a lot of US these holiday months are coming fast and really work us up.

I'm always here, a phone call, text, or an hour's drive away!

Kristine:

Yeah, maybe I'll hit the NY one next year. I just really want to buy some nice decor for my babies. I don't have the time or patients to build my own like I hopped, at least not yet.

You are very important to me as well. You do all the stressing out for me when we visit.

I'm usually not too bummed when I'm with people though Paul is seeing more of it and it scares him. I was usually bumming by myself.

Thanks, Kristine!

General:

So Paul and I have decided that after school and/or work on Tuesday, Thursdays, and Sundays we are going to work out at the school's gym. We'll do this Tuesday and neither one of us can do Thursday or Sunday. We're also going to try and eat healthier - a lot less McDonald's and a lot more whole wheat and real meat and healthier drinks.

All the CHE's I ordered are in, will get that all settled and taken care of.

I'm working 6:30am-7:30pm both Saturday and Sunday next week so I plan to be exhausted and in bed early. I'm not looking forward to it, but the extra cash will help. I wish I could get by on just weekends and have my grandpa transfer an extra $150 bi-weekly, but that probably won't happen so time to shut up and slave away.

Bearded Dragon Related:

I know, a post about them? So bizarre. I will hopefully get an update up before the end of the week. I have a play to read, scene to write, paper to write, books to read, work to do, lessons to ride, it's never ending. So seriously will try to get it all sorted out asap.

Holly:
I hope to have the stuff mailed out to you next Tuesday. Sorry for the delay, but money happened. :(

Jace:
Jace is doing well, eating like a trooper. He eats 10 supers every other day and about 5 in between. His tail, upper front right leg, and maybe back of head are getting ready to shed. He's been loving free time and play time. His basking light broke so we gave him Zy's and gave Zy the CHE since she doesn't eat and needs heat to keep her warm only. Bought a new basking bulb today so everyone is all set.

Sorin:

He stopped growing at the 16" mark thus far. Today he dove through the play pen barrier and behind the couch. Guess who got a stern talking with today? Jace and Zy were never this bad during their outings. He's also shedding his head and beard right now. He's still eating well and pooping. So I lied. Just measured him for haha's and he's 16.25" now.

Thanks for the great pictures, so Zy is more sleepy than up now? Guess it's that time, mine are very sleepy, too, lately.

Jace is as handsome as ever and Sorin is sure cute, getting so big and has a wonderful smile!

Actually I just didn't get around to posting pictures of the rest of the babies yet. Hopefully sometime soon - maybe tomorrow.

Thanks everyone!

:( No one said it would be easy, Liz. It's hard as heck, but we all know you can do it and pull through. It won't be much longer before you and Paul are done school and you both can settle down.

I can just imagine how you feel, but you have to persevere, as Jolene said, it's your last year! You have to keep your sight on future, too. As for your babies, they will do fine without constant care. Mine don't come out of their tanks at all hardly during the week and they're fine. I don't always get them out a lot on the weekends either. Sometimes, when I'm overtired, I don't feed them as much as they should have, so I'm glad it's slow down time and they're not eating as much as during the summer. I always fell a bit guilty, but then I realize that they're a happy bunch. I don't feed Bunny every day like I should be either, yet she's improving all the time and not losing weight. She's sure taken to the syringe feeding, takes in the few drops of calcium she needs and eats lots of Repashy, but won't eat it on her own. So looks like I'm going to have to go back to crickets :angry5:

I hope you see your counsellor and let him know the pressure you're feeling; you need your medication, just like Esther said, it's better to realize you need help, it will all help you cope with everything.

Love you too!

Jolene:
Yup, hopefully in two years I can move on out.

Deb:
Yup, two more semesters after this one. Not including any winter and summer courses I will take to lower the amount of classes I have to take in the fall next semester.

But Jace black beards me all day if he doesn't get at least five minutes of cuddling. :(

General:
So I did talk a lot with my counsellor yesterday. I told him that I planned to start taking vitamins, that I have ADD tendencies, that I want to eat healthier and exercise, and that I feel so overwhelmed with my workload.
Talking about the vitamins he recommended B-complex instead of B12 which was the one I was initially going to get. That will help with calming and should give me more energy. He also recommended fish oil to help with calm - it's supposed to be good for anxiety. And then he agreed with my choices of Calcium, D3, and vitamin E.
Then we went on to the whole subject of being healthier. First we talked about my sleep cycle and how I'm doing more harm than good by waking up at 6am to turn off the CHE's and then going back to sleep for 45 minutes while they cool off to be switched out. He said to drop that extra 45 because it'll just make me more tired. And then he related that to exercise and recommended I do yoga in the morning while the CHE's to cool off because it gets in my exercise I want and is a good, productive thing to do in the morning. I did my yoga this morning, feel great. I'm also going to go to the gym with Paul Tues, Thurs, and Sun evenings. Then we talked about eating more whole wheat and the difference between that, wheat, and multigrain and why eating that is better for you.
He also told me to try and start looking at my workload in chunks and to break it into chunks be thinking "I know I can get this much done now easily" and then leave the rest for your next work session. He said the best way to work is work 1.5 hours, 20 min break, work 1.5 hours, 20 min break and so on.

So last night I bought the vitamins and supplements I needed as well has healthier drinks. I also had to buy Jace and Zy new flood lights ($12 each) because the old ones weren't putting out any heat. And that's all my free spend money from today's paycheck spent. So no free spending for two whole weeks. Gag.

I also won't be on here much anymore. I'm going to set aside one day a week to do an update (debating on Thurs or Sun). There's just too much of a workload right now for me to be able to do everything I want to do. I will try to read other people's threads day to day so I can keep up to date with everyone.

Take care and I love all of you.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
