Jace, Zy, Sorin, Ava, Nissa, & Koth -->Update 12-18 w/ Pics

I'm relatively new to this website, though I have posted questions prior to this "blog." I fell in love with bearded dragons on a trip to Petco. I've always wanted a reptile and I have a dragon statue collection at home so it seemed perfect. Jace, however, was not my first beardie. My first beardie was one of the two smaller ones. The employees hadn't gotten around to putting on of the little ones up for adoption because he would have a seizure whenever he was picked up. They were pretty sure the one I had picked wasn't the seizure one. I bought him the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and am sad to say I returned him that following Monday. This one had seizures whenever he was put down. I knew, being a new owner, that it would be better for the both of us if I returned him to Petco and that was when I got Jace, the love of my life. On a side note, the two that suffered from seizures got adopted to loving homes where someone can take care of them . Anyways, on to my picture show.

This was my first night with Jace. He no longer has that cage - he is in a bigger one and on tiles instead.

The first week montage:

I did it! I got Ava to eat all on my own. She ate well, too. Four hornworms are a wiggling in her tummy.

So the hornworms from Linda came in today, finally. I guess the extra two days of the mail did them a little too much good:

I don't know who can eat that. Jace might be okay so long as I watch him like a hawk. He ate a couple of big ones today, 3. Not quite THAT big, but pretty close. Honestly, I'm just happy he ate. He doesn't seem to care too much for the phoenix worms anymore, preferring the dubia and hornworms. Maybe he likes that they are bigger. I'll give what's left of the phoenix to Zy.

Changed Sparta's name to Slifer. He has been rather allusive today. We only saw him because, along with the big bag of Eco-Earth and moss I bought him, I also needed all of the Eco-Earth from his old viv and scooped it out around him. I took the Eco-Earth box, corralled him into it, and moved him to his new viv which he dived right into. Not even a glance to see him and say hi.

There are still 4 crickets and the 15 mealworms in there. I think he liked the phoenix worms better so I might have Zy shares her's with him.

Jace and even Zy will be completely fine eating those, they are soft bodies so not an impaction risk, just make sure they get plenty of basking and digestion time. Thor ate one that was almost 4 in lont and he is only 10 in long and he didn't have a problem. Being soft bodied makes a diference.

All right, that's good. I will maybe ask Paul to stop buy and feed them because I won't be there an hour after they get up to feed them. Stupid job and it's difficult hours. Paul gave the okay on feeding them for me so long as I write a list.

So Paul and I are going to try setting up a feeding time for Slifer so he will get used to us and this way we can offer other foods. He didn't touch the mealworms once but had 9 phoenix worms. He hadn't touched the crickets either. Will be interesting to work with him. Won't be doing any real handling, just getting him to surface. Can try some horns for him.

Mr. Peek-a-boo-Silfer will come around. I just love trying them with new bugs! The 1st large horn Myah ever had was chomped in the middle sending the clear contents on to the side of the glass. :shock: I felt horrible for the worm but was super happy to see Myah enjoying herself so much. I swear she smiled after and strutted up like the cats meow to the next one. Fearsome little diva :lol: It'll be alot of fun for you to see what Silfer enjoys

I hope so. We find him underneath the tank and then dig around him so when we go to dig him out, he can't escape underneath.

Slifer wanted nothing to do with the horn and still hasn't touched the crickets or mealworms. Switch the mealworms with phoenix so will see how that goes.

Jace ate 4 super big hornworms and Zy had 5 medium ones.

I don't expect anyone to read or respond to this. I just need to ramble, maybe because I have nothing to better do. I feel like Facebook would be a bad idea. Why this would be any better? I don't know. Maybe it is because if you do read and do respond, you can offer more than just "I'm sorry."

So, when I was three, almost four years old, my mother was murdered by my father. I still remember a good mix of pieces from that night. My parents were living apart and my father was an abusive man. He beat her, but she never said a word. It wasn't until on of my mom's best friends went into the tack room and saw him hitting her that it came out. My mom got a restraining order and then, because he didn't want anyone else to have her, he broke into our house and killed her.

I went to therapy for 6-8 years and I guess it might have done something for me, but I don't know. It was usually whatever was on my mind and what I there for was never really on my mind. So we never really talked about.

Anyways, as of lately, I feel weird. Not a good weird, but not bad either. I feel lethargic and tired all the time, but the idea of sleep seems impossible. I always feel bored, but just don't have the motivation to push myself into doing anything about it. I don't know if Paul has noticed, he might not have because unless he's told, he doesn't seem to notice. Speaking of Paul, I also feel like I am not fair to him. He wants to make me happy and tries so hard, but I'm just so indifferent. It feels like it is too much energy to care. I ask for so much and do nothing in return.

I think my mood is rubbing off on Jace and Zy. They seem pretty lazy as well, but that could be because the weather is cloudy and cool and dreary.

Well I am sorry about your mother. I too also have someone in the family that is.. well my aunt is psycho and tries to kill my uncle everyday if she hasn't
yet. She's not right in the head, makes everyone around her nervous that includes my cousin, my sister and I were never allowed to go our cousin's
house because she's insane he'd have to come over. She doesn't want help, she doesn't think anything is wrong with her when we all see what is
wrong with her, she's freaking psycho and wants her husband dead! She's like 55 yrs old and IDK if she ever got help or if he's dead because of her.
All I do know is, I still can't go over to my cousin's house and he's still alive as far as I know, no one died, at least I don't think so. So I may not experience
what you did but I do know what it's like to be around someone who is abusive, she's is to her husband.
