Thought I’d give a lunch update on my boy. His worm bowl was empty so he ate all 24 of them. It doesn't look like he touched his salad at all, no surpise there. I offered him crickets for lunch and he did eat one and chased a 2nd one, but then one my dog started barking upstairs and he seemed to be more interested in the noise than the bugs. Tonight, I’ll be closing my door so if the dog starts barking again it shouldn’t be as loud. He still has some pretty dark stress marks which I expected, but he seems to be settling in a bit more.

Forgot to mention that he also left me his first poop present! :blob8:

Is it weird that I'm absolutely psyched for tonight so I can give him a bath? Growing up I've always LOVED water - still do actually - so I love bathing my animals.

Dewey has had a GREAT day today. His personality is just starting to come out a bit more which is good. He's still showing stress marks, but I'm not to worried about that right now. They do seem to be getting lighter and he is moving around his cage much more. He had 2 poops today and he ate quite a bit for me! Yesterday he ate 24 Phoenix Worms (between 7:00am - 2:00pm) so today I bumped it up to offering him 36. All but 3 were eaten when I came home at lunch, but the 3 that were left were dead so I'm not surprised he passed on them.

This afternoon I tried feeding him some more crickets in a feeding bin, but he seems to get overwhelmed with that so I decided to try the crickets in a glass bowl idea. I didn't have time to count how many I put in there, but if my memory serves me right there are fewer in it now than when I set the bowl out. There's also a large noticeable dent in his salad today.

Also, here's a cute story that I wanted to add. Yesterday I noticed he would take a few steps and lick the floor and then he'd take a few more steps and he'd lick the driftwood, etc. He kept putting his tongue on things as he walked by. I did a search and found that this is his way getting acquainted with his new surroundings, more or less anyway. Well today when I held him he licked my hand. I know he didn't do it out of affection or anything, but it was still really awesome!

I now know why you guys are so hooked on these sweethearts. I'm totally in love with my little guy. :love5: :)

Isn't it the best?

Scott calls Phoenix a "carpet licker" because he is ALWAYS licking the carpet. We even started predicting right before he was going to do it. I keep a REAL close eye on what he's licking when he's out of his viv. I'm an overprotective mommy though.

Congrats on your new friend. He's gorgeous!

What a difference a month makes! When I got Dewey on 1/13/10, he was just about 9" long. Today, he's pushing 10.5-11". He's got a very healthy appetite as he eats crickets and phoenix worms (his favorite) and will also munch on his salad. He's starting to get a chubby little belly. He also has a great personality. He's always very gentle, never once has he hissed or tried to bite. He's really enjoying being out of his cage now. At first he was very nervous about it, but I kept trying and now he loves it. When he's done exploring he runs over to cuddle with me. He's the sweetest little thing. I don't think I could've gotten any luckier than I did by getting Dewey for my first beardie!

Here are some then and now shots. It's only been a month, but the difference is huge! I think so anyway. :)

This is shortly after taking him out of the box the day he arrived...

Another shot of Dewey basking the day he arrived...

... and again today. This was first thing this morning which is why he looks a little grumpy and also why the colors seem off in the photo (not all of my lights had been turned on yet).

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
