Just got this 40 gallon breeder, its a pretty cheap set up hence the cardboard hide box, but she also has a rock to hide behind in the corner. Just wondering what the opinions are of how it is.
And side note... I do not feed her in the tank because she is on sand. Yes i know it is not recommended, hence why i make sure to feed her outside the tank not near sand. Also the stick has been moved so she can get closer to the light, which is a combo dome that does uvb and heat lamp, it is not a coil nor compact bulb...

i know you stated that you have the combo dome but i think that the uvb output is not that great for you dragon, and do you know what your temps are on her basking spot. i recommend to get a flourescent bulb like the reptisun 10.0.
Yes i do know thats whats recommended at the time i did not and i already put out 70 dollars on it, in the next month or so i will upgrade to a retisun 10. and basking temp is 105 in basking area and about 75 on the cool side
the temps are fine maybe you should try putting the stick a little higher so he can be 6-8inches away form the uvb because from the picture it looks to be pretty far away.
Ya ive been playing with the location, it has been like that so he can get close to the light but the problem is all he does is sit on the stick and not move no matter where it is in the tank. So i put it down lower so he would actually move around, now ive put it back by the light. Just didnt seem healthy he never moves off the stick when its up in a corner
does he eat and poop regularly it could be that he ate some sand and became impacted, when they are babies they like going and licking everything so that might be the case.
well then he must just love that stick, he is a pretty baby is it a male or a female, and with the 40 gallon breeder you dont have to worry about upgradint the tank it can stay there until adult hood. can you get any close ups of the baby.
Hi, it's great that you posted a pic of your setup to make sure everything is perfect for your baby. He's absolutely adorable.
You mentioned that you're using a bulb that gives off heat & UVB, so it must be a mercury vapor bulb. Could you tell us the brand name and wattage so we can direct you with the distance that it should be from him when he's basking?
Are you using play sand, calci-sand, or vita-sand?
It looks to be a basking bulb with the "ring" UVB flourescent (sp?), I forget who makes it. I thought about rather than the cost of a SB MVB to get some extra UVB while mine basks, but it was a wash so I left what I had.
I believe she is a she not quite sure dont think shes old enough to tell yet ive checked under the tail kinda looks female, she is about 8 inches long and 4 months old. Um i am using sifted and washed playground sand from home depot. It is the new rzilla combo lamp, it has a circular tube uvb bulb that unfortunately is just a 5.0 and in the next month or so i will upgrade to the reti 10.0 that everyone recommends but i already spent 70 on this one so im gonna wait a month before i put down another 50 on a new set up. And the heat lamp is a 50 watt halogen bulb.
