Hey Steve, if you leave crickets make sure they are in a bowl or something they can't get out of! They have been known to chew on babies.

Isn't the chewing on babies thing if you leave them in there overnight? Or at any time?

*bites nails*

Tom at TND feeds his crickets in the morning in their bins and leaves them in there until they're gone...

It can be any time, but at night's more of a concern. I'm just a paranoid mommy. I agree, since you can't get them out, leave some kind of food in there for them. I actually used to take everything out of Lilly's tank to get all of the lose bugs (tiles included). Glad we have finally mastered the feeding bin!

Well, Khalil is awake and . . . not eating, as usual. :(

He sure seems threatened by me. When I went into his room, he was on his basking spot, and as soon as I walked in he gave me the evil eye and half-opened his mouth in a vaguely threatening way. Gave him some fresh salad, and attempted to tempt him with six crickets for 15 mins or so . . . nuthin'. I even left the room for about 10 of the 15, in case he'd feel more comfortable that way. There are still at least 1 or 2 hiding in his cage from the other night.

But while attempting to feed him, he pooped again. Not sure where the poop is coming from if he's not eating SOMETHING while I'm not looking, or unless their digestive process takes multiple days. If he ate any salad, it was so little as to be indistinguishable.

Tom @ TND told me not to even worry about it until around Day 4 or so, but I gotta admit, I'm nervous! :(

I have to admit, it's such a human emotional reaction, but I feel really sad when he looks angry at me. :D

He's just scared. Once he learns that you're not going to eat him he will be happy to see you! But I'm with you, if they are mad at you, you feel guilty and sad. Lol, you could try bribing him with a little nubbin of blackberry? Not too many, esp if there are seeds in them, but see if he likes that and the color.

Oh Steve, I’m sorry he’s still not “there” yet. I really wish I had some good advice to give you, but unfortunately I don’t. :( The only thing I can think of would be to offer try offering a different live food to see if that helps. I have crickets ready to go as well as some Phoenix Worms just in case. I hope he eats for you soon. Just remember, it’s only day 2 (since he most likely ate well Sunday morning before you brought him home)!

I would definitely order some Phoenix worms or silkworms in case he needs a bit of enticement to eat. Good luck!

How is he today? Eating yet?

Nope. :(

Well, I suspect that he may be NIBBLING at the salad, but it's so hard to tell. He certainly hasn't scarfed it all down or anything. He did poop this morning. He's still alert and on his basking log, and I saw him NEAR the salad earlier.

I've ordered some Phoenix worms; perhaps I can entice him with a treat when they get here. Although I shudder to think of my emotional state if he's still not eating three days from now!

At this point, I would try a chicken and squash babyfood mix. I just drip it onto Lilly's nose and she scarfs it down. But like I've said, this does has a tendency to spoil them. My mom was taking care of her because she was sick during my finals and now whenever she sees my mom she smacks her lips to try to get my mom to give her babyfood lol.

Steve, this is day 1 of getting my beardie and so far he's eaten 0 crickets and 12 Phoenix Worms. I don't know if it's a preference thing or not, but he seems more apt to eat the worms. I think this is a whole new world to him, but I was very relieved that he's gotten SOMETHING into his stomach. I'm glad you ordered some because I have a feeling they'll probably be a big hit for Khalil as well. :)

Let us know how the baby food goes if you decide to give that a try. I may have to use it myself. Time will tell...

I'm sorry Khalil's still not eating for you. I can't really give you any more advice than anyone else has. Hopefully, it is just relocation stress and he will begin to eat soon. I understand your worry though - I would be going crazy too. For whatever reason, I really didn't have to go through that with Rex. I guess I was lucky. Maybe the Phoenix worms will do the trick. Rex loved those when I bought them...they certainly didn't last long. He seems to get way more excited for worms (now supers) than he ever did for crickets.

Tell Khalil his big brother Rex said he needs to eat and stop worrying his people!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
