Hello, so my bearded dragon didn’t feel Good Friday. It was because he had a lot of laxatives. He was feeling better. I’m not sure how he feels today. He ate his crickets no problem. He looks up and alert except for the fact he laid down a couple of times. However, he got up right away for the cricket. He seems less interested in his greens today. He seemed less willing to eat them when I offered it to him. He, then stopped wanting the greens. I thought maybe I was bothering him too much. I kept trying to get him to eat them right after he ate crickets. I waited 2 hours. He ate the greens I offered again. He still seems less excited though. Does he have a problem? Is he getting bad again? Or is it just an off day?

Idk mine rests under his rock all day except morning. But will go wild for a BSFL or some collard so I think yours should be ok unless this is extremely different.
He dosent seem to be resting too much. He seems less interested in his greens. He stopped wanting them. I got him to eat some when I waited a little while. Im not sure if he will stop eating them again or if maybe I just bothered him. Last time he was less interested in them and then stopped wanting them completely.

Are the greens the only issue? Bearded dragons go through phases where they stop eating greens, and occasionally even go on hunger strikes, so personally I don’t see it as too much of an issue in of itself.

Yes. He seemed to stop wanting them. He seems to still want his crickets. They are greens with puree though. I think he likes the purée a lot.

What age is your bearded dragon? An adult (12+ months) needs greens daily, and crickets 2-3 times a week in smaller amounts whereas babies and juveniles can eat a lot more (live food 5-7 days a week).

Try adding some food toppers (dried or fresh flowers, organic bee pollen, small feeders, dried insects, etc…) or simply mist the salad. All of these will act as a lure of the sorts for your bearded dragon.

Try a variety of veggies and greens and do some trial and error, my beardie likes bell peppers and kale. And finally, give it time. He’ll start up again eventually.

He is an adult. He is like 4-5 years old.

Alright, then maybe buy some multivitamin to make up for the nutrients he is missing out on. Try what I’ve suggested, and if nothing seems to work you can cut back a lot on the bugs for a bit (NOT PERMANENT).

When he is hungry he will eat the salad.

I give him herptivite once a week. Should I do it more frequently until he eats better. Or should I buy an additional one?

Thank you for the help. Also, I know you were wondering if your temperatures were too hot the other day. I believe I read once that if they are in the shade/hide all day and mouth gaping it may be too hot. But, your bearded dragon seems healthy and eating well. And you didn’t mention mouth gaping. I just thought I’d let you know if you didn’t happen to know that.

That’s not good — a 4-5 month old bearded dragon should not exhibit lethargic behaviours, and the likelihood of him brumating or semi brumating are also pretty low. What is your UVB fixture and temperatures — also how do you read them?

Is your bearded dragon from Petsmart, Petco, or any other chain petstore? Generally, they sell stunted dragons so brumation may well be a possibility, unless he was purchased from a breeder or reptile specialist store.
