Yes you need a reflector -- w/ no reflector the UVB rays are going everywhere but to him -- you need to get the size of your fixture

Can I use aluminum foil? I’ve seen posts about it. For the time being I mean

You can use aluminum foil in your old fixture like I told you in your other thread.

I got the heavy duty Reynolds wrap. It won’t hold heat and burn my plastic under the cabinet light right? I will include pic of how I did the foil soon. Thanks

Not anymore than a reflector that you would buy. The UVB bulbs don't put off much heat anyways so you don't need to worry about that.

I've been using a homemade reflector in one of my tanks for 2 months now without issue.
