Do you just give them squash raw? In particular, butternut squash? It is a bit hard when raw, so do you roast it first or something or is raw in small cubes the way to go?

Mine loves butternut squash. I just cut it into small, long, thin pieces. No cooking. It is his favorite squash at the moment. I do the same with any hard squash or veggie.

Do you only give raw to an adult? I've been steaming mine a little for my babies. Is this right or am I doing it wrong? They are only 2 mos old.

They will enjoy it either way. I cut raw squash into small worm shaped pieces and add it to the top of salads. I've offered cooked squash and cooked sweet potato by forming it into pebble or worm shapes as well. It's chewier that way but still works.

My Bd is now 6 1/2 months, he has been eating Butternut and yellow squash for a couple of months...butternut is clearly his favorite. I like to prepare in advance, I grated it for a while and he really liked it that way but it didn't stay fresh as long..it got mushy. Now I slice off two raw pieces maybe 1/4 inch thick, trim off the skin, stack them then slice it 1/8 to 3/16 inch then cut the slices again to about the same width so I end up with a pile of little squares. They go into a screw on top Tupperware type container. He eats that up in a week or less, I use it as a topper with yellow squash on his collard greens and escarole.
