How to pick up my beardie

I am a new beardie owner, we have been doing our research diligently trying to become better owners. However, I haven't come across the proper procedure for picking up my beardie and was curious if you would be so kind as to share that with me :). Sorry if this is a dumb post, it is probably elsewhere but I have found the majority of the good info for my beardie on this site and trust the posters.

The proper way to pick up a beardie is to scoop from below their belly and supporting their back legs, but take care to not reach in from behind him/her or you'll scare him/her to death.
You also need to watch that you don't cast a shadow over him/her, and turn on his/her predatory alarm.

This might explain why peppa' has been closing one eye at me and squirms a lot as of late. Thank you a bunch, I'll begin properly picking him up, anything I can
do to reverse the effects of mishandeling him?

As they get bigger, watch for the tail. Darwin's used his as a whip recently as he's trying to get his balance when I'm picking him up. I think just picking him up the right way that makes him feel comfortable will help him get used to being handled. But babies are VERY squirmy and jumpy. My advice would be to sit on the ground when you hold him. Darwin used to love playing Superman...

What size beardie are you trying to pick up? I pick up the babies very differently from my giant beardie.

I approach mine from the front or side where he can see me, and get my hand under his belly. When I pick him up his front legs curl over my index finger and I get my forearm beneath his tail. Once he feels supported, he settles right down.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
