I was handling Buttercup the second day. Most suggest leaving them go for a week while they adjust. As far as picking them up, I just pick Buttercup up off of her basking spot. Sometimes she isnt to happy about it at first, but is usually okay with it in a second or two. Even complains when I try and put her back in the cage.

What I mean by isnt too happy is that she gives me the stink eye. In no way does she flare her beard out or anything. She is just a grump sometimes lol.

We got Trogdor when he was 3 weeks old. Starting from day #2 I would pick him up to give him a bath. I had a little plastic container and I would hold him in my hand and keep my hand in the container while walking to the sink for his bath. It took a little while but now at 3 months he's super friendly and will hang out with any human pretty happily.

I've had Thanatos for almost two weeks now, he's about 8-9 weeks old. I tried holding him on day #3 after we got him and he wiggled like a fish on a hook when I went to pick him up, but once he was in my hand which was still in his viv, he seemed to calm down right quick

I got Harley when she was 6 weeks old. I didn't pick her up for like a week except for baths in her little Tupperware bowl. I pet her and would hand feed her and talk to her. After about 5 days or so I started picking her up and she seemed fine. Fast forward a month and now she comes out all the time and sits on me or runs around the couch. She even had her first fall of the couch. She tried to jump to her cage table which is next to the couch and she underestimated it and the fact the table is kinda slick and she only half landed on it and fell to the floor. She just stood there on the floor looking up at me when I came over with the look of "what are you waiting for!? pick me up!!". She pretty much goes to sleep on me nightly. She will scratch my arm which means "give me my blankie". So I grab that put it down on me and she will crawl into it and twist around and push it around till it's perfect, then she goes to sleep. That's usually an hour before lights out so when lights are out, I just scoop her up inside her blankie and put it all down on her hammock. She doesn't even wake up. Depends if I pick her up or she runs to me. Sometimes she's in a playing mood and will literally jump on my hand while im trying to feed her a treat and then run up my arm. Other times I have to scoop her up and take her out. Either way she has never objected. Only time she throws a fit is when it's bath time. My god that's like bathing a cat. She splashes all over, runs up my arm, jumps out of her dish and looks all pissy so I really don't bath her anymore. She's fine with water from her veggies and bugs. She just learning how to beard now so it's hilarious watching her practice on her hammock.

I got axle when he was five weeks old and took him out the second day. I only held him for a few minutes at first though. He never showed any signs of stress or not wanting to be taken out of his tank. He adjusted pretty quick.

I got roshi from my boyfriend she's a year and a half I got her in march, first time I saw her I picked her up, when I brought her home I let her chill out for a day but than I started handling her the next day, she doesn't exactly like to be held, she likes to run around and explore. she's very independent, but in other cases like if I got a new one like a baby i'd leave that guy alone for awhile and wait till it gets bigger and gets used to me being near it, and let it come to me, but since roshi and skippy were both handled I just pick them up. BUT if I wake her up she gets superrr cranky, she'll puff up her beard it wont turn black or anything she'll flatten out so I cant pick her up, but if I attempt she'll move her body towards me like trying to be larger than she really is. if she does that I just leave her alone. she's my little crabby pants, she lovesssss water, will swim around, move her body to make waves and everything. now her brother on the other hand he HATES water with a burning passion if he hears the tub he's gone, he'll turn black all over and will have an absolute fit until you take him out. their nothing alike but from the same clutch.

We got Slick about 2 1/2 weeks ago. We've picked him up from day 1. Now if I walk into the room where he is, he stands on his back legs and scratches at the glass like a scaley puppy! He was only 4 inches long when we got him. I say go for it!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
