How many gallons is...

I just bought this tank for $50 it is all wood, 5ft long 3 feet tall 2 1/2 feet wide. How many gallons is that?

If it's all wood, you wouldnt look at it as gallons....well I wouldnt anyway

With those dimensions, it would be considered a 280 gallon viv, WOW, you got a great deal for only $50.00. :shock: You'll have to post pictures of it once you get it all set up.

WOWWWW Tracie that is a big number. It was s000 hard carrying it up to my bedroom. i had to have 2 of my big guy friends carry up a staircase that turns so they had to carry it vertically up 2 steps. It has built in lights and everything, I am so happy!! I'm a bargain hunter =) Do you think I need more than 1 MVB bulb?

I think you meant "Diane" LOL. I found the size here: http://www.beardeddragon.org/articles/conversions/ I know how hard it was just carrying our 130 gallon upstairs and over a banister, I can't imagine what you went through with a 280 gallon. You must be quite the bargain hunter.

The options in setting it up are endless, you could have different choices for the basking spot too. If you're getting either a T-Rex or Megaray, you shouldn't need more than one MVB because they both throw out a lot of heat. You will probably need a 160 watt though then a lower wattage on the cool side. For a 160 watt MVB, you'll need to have the basking area at least 18" from the bulb. Check out the DIY and the pictures in this area for all sorts of ideas. You will have lots of fun setting it up and we'll want to see pictures of course.
