holy hornworms

Ok so I ordered 50 hornworms and had no idea they grew so fast, now I have 40 huge worms. How many can I feed Thug in a day? Can I replace the crickets for a feeding

Where'd you order them from? They get huge Rule of thumb 1 full grown hornworm is = to 36 crickets. Mine will only eat 1 large hornworm per feeding, and sometimes will eat 2 a day. Good luck trying to feed all those off Mine don't grow that fast even though I want them to! I have 6 dragons waiting for big hornworms.

If you are only using a hornworm and not crickets and you normally dust your crickets, than yes you can dust the hornworm. How big is your dragon? My 5 month old devoured a full grown hornworm with no issue.

www.lindasgonebuggie.com also has a great deal on hornworms, 3 for $25. I'm going to wait until the weather gets warmer and order some more from her. I love when they get huge

Our little guy is 5 months also no problems, I got 2 25 cups of baby's for 37.00.

Ok he cant take on more than one now. They got so big so fast. But he takes a one inch on like a champ. After he looks at it for 5 min then stalks it for another 2. ha ha

The same thing happened to me when I first bought hornworms. The trick is to keep them cool and they will stop growing. About 50 degrees works great.

Ok so they got huge and with a little cricket food kept them alive long enough for fatty to take them on. He ate them all. Now lets see if he will eat his crickets ha ha

From buying silks and horns in the past, I see that excess amount of chow and I think there is such a thing as too much chow in the cup. It just drives up the price of shipping. :silent:

OH so it's not like they just reduced the food a little bit! I got ya - sorry I didn't pick up on that. That totally stinks. Someone on here once was giving advice on what to feed horns if you run out of chow, but I can't remember what that was. I think it was Gail, actually. You can try and PM her - I am pretty sure it was her who knew what to feed them. I should have written that down for sure. :|

Hmm, if worse comes to worse you can order premade chow or the mixins and make it yourself... Phooey that there wasn't the normal amount.

I have the worst luck with horns... they always die on me :silent: And if you have ever had a dead hornworm you'll know they STINK!!
Now I buy them from petsmart in smaller quantities but I pay a ridiculous price of $1.29 CAN each! :shock:

I'm all for cutting costs for businesses and all but if get 25 and 10 die from lack of food I won't be happy. I will have search out and see if I can get recipe. If I find an easy one I will post it.
