I spoke too soon. I just fed Sammy a few minutes ago and he ate almost 40 medium sized crickets (1/2"+). Hopefully my order of crickets comes in tomorrow!

As promised,more pictures...

If you notice, there is a cricket leg right in front of his foot. Evidence of the mass cricket buffet that took place moments ago.

Sammy really loves his tree, but sad to say anything bigger would sprout up and out of his Viv. I'm sure he will still love his tree when it is small to him. I need to get back to taking more photos so I have more to update this weekend.

Hopefully your package next week doesnt go through what happened with my shipment of crickets this week, Barbara. I ordered crickets on Sunday and they were shipped Monday. They were send to the wrong hub in New York! Then back down to Kentucky, and then finally to Ohio. Its Friday now and I still dont have them. I can only imagine that after 5 days of travel, they have all starved to death... grrr.

Hopefully I can get refunded, but until then I'm paying the exorbitant prices for local crickets at the pet store. With as many as Sammy can put away, I'm spending upwards of $7.00 a day. So far Sammy will only eat 1-2 roaches at a time, as he prefers his crickets. Oh well, nothing I can do about it now.

On the plus side, he ate quite a few slices of peach this morning. Though I would have to look away from him before he would take a bite. What a silly little guy.

Sorry about the loss of your order of crickets...that really sucks. :(

Yeah, I imagine you are right with a bigger tree that would only give Sammy an escape route.

I guess lady luck was on my side, despite the late order delivery. All but a dozen crickets were still alive and kicking! :blob5:
They are some pretty hardy little guys and made it through the long travel ordeal. I'm surprised they survived 5 days without food or water in a small box with some of the temperatures the east has had over the last week. I guess they wanted to survive. Kind of sad that they are to be sacrificed to the great Dragon King, Sammy! :D

Hey Barbara, what size crickets is #4 up to these days? I figure I should put in an order early, in case it gets delayed again.

Yay, #4 has arrived. He perked right up when I open up his little container. He had a creamy white little belly when I opened up the box. I talked to him for a bit and stroked his back gently before I picked him up, but he is a feisty little guy. I put him in his Viv to get calm down a bit and get use to his surroundings, but he is currently giving my the death glare as if I kidnapped him!

I'm sure he be fine in a bit. Picture to come soon.

Also, Sammy caught sight of #4 and is being a little brat now that he realizes he is not an 'only dragon' in the house. For the first time ever, he has a full black beard, but no puffing out. I went over and assured him that I would love him just the same and he was content to just sit on the basket in between the two aquariums. Poor Sammy is already jealous.

Aww poor Sammy has to share his daddy now.

As far as he knows you did kidnap him.
I'm sure he's a bit confused, but this should pass shortly. As soon as he figures out that this slave gives him food and love he'll be fine. :)

Yeah, #4 will soon learn he just about has the run of the house. I'm sure when he figures that out, he will settle in nicely. As for Sammy, he will have to learn very quickly to play nice while they take turns out of their Viv, but I can only imagine the interaction between the two one the get a good look at each other. This should be an interesting week to come. :D

As promised, pictures. I still had a few from last week that I never uploaded, so I'll post those first.

Happy Colors!

Sammy is so cute...love all the leg poses. :love5:

#4 doesn't look to stressed in those pic's. :)
He does look a bit confused though...poor baby.
But he is going to figure out real quick that he has his very own home with a lot less dragons and a nice big viv and he'll be just fine. :)

Thank-you Tristan for giving this guy a forever home. I hope he brings you many laughs and lots of happiness. :D

BTW....the interactions when you have more than one beardie are priceless. When you only have one you don't get to see the conversations that take place between 2. They really are hilarious...I'm sure you are going to have a very interesting week for sure.

Yeah, as much as Sammy protests about having his picture taken (stress marks), he really likes to pose all the time. 8)

So much for my day off... I got called back into work for the second half of the day. I had Sammy out for his adventure time in the living room, but when I went to put him back in his Viv, he was fully black bearding and head bobbing and #4 in his Viv. he was even head bobbing as I picked him up and carried him over and continued to headbob for a bit after I set Sammy on his tree. I have never seem him headbob before, so it was a spectacle to watch. By time I got home 5 hours later he seemed to be perfectly calm, sitting on his tree, like nothing happened. Silly little guy.

Apparently #4 has no loss of appetite. He is a bottomless pit for crickets this evening and eventually I stopped feeding him when it looked like he was about to explode. He ate about 40+ medium crickets in 5-10 minutes. At least I don’t have to worry about a hunger strike due to relocation stress. He seems to be finding his way around his Viv and was checking out the basking stop when I came home.

So far, so good! :D

I find crickets up on the hammocks as often as I find them in other places when they manage to avoid their due sacrifice to the dragon king, Sammy. For the most part I feed Sammy with feeding tweezers so that I don’t have many loose crickets running around. If I can, I scoop up the ones that get away from Sammy during the second feeding of the day. If there are one or two crickets that escape my grasp, I usually have greens and fruit in the Viv for the night and they don’t seem to bother Sammy.

I find that Sammy like to be in high places at all times except when he is sleeping at night under the tree. So the cool side of the Viv, with the hammock is a nice place to hang out sometimes.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
