Wow, that looks much better, good job. :D What UVB tube light did you get and what is the distance of it from your beardie while in the basking spot?

I suggest that you get a good digital probe thermometer as soon as you can and perhaps hold off on the timers right now. It's very important to know what the basking & cool side temps are. The digital probe thermometers are very inexpensive, as cheap as $6.00. If you have a Walmart near you, they have the Acurite brand that will give you both the basking & cool side temp at the same time as well as a humidity readout for only $12.00. If you'd like to see a picture of it, let me know & I will post one.

If you're not removing the water dish before your baby goes to sleep, I would recommend that you do because they can drown in a very small amount of water and we know how soundly beardies sleep. Unfortunately some babies have drowned over night so I feel it's best to be cautious.

As far as the heating mat goes, it's fine to stick it to the side of the glass but if it's right on the bottom of the tank, be sure to put something over it. Beardies sense heat from overhead so if the mat malfunctions and your beardie is asleep, it could get burned very badly. If you need heat at night, your best and safer thing to use would be a ceramic heat emitter that gives off heat but no light so it won't disturb his sleep.

You have made some great changes and you should be very proud. Have you noticed any change in the behavior yet?

Thanx hey! The one u guys suggested, the repti-glo 10.0 tube. Its about 6-8 inches!

Once payday arrives I'm gonna get one and I'll get the timers at a later stage. I'm not from the u.s. I just convert everything I buy into dollars, so its easier for u all to see roughly how much I spent instead of using my currency! I think I know which digital probe temp u talking about. But if u would be so kind to post a picture.

I'll remove the water in the bowl from now on! Thanx for the information. Oh ok, but isn't that heating pad safe under the news paper. I've seen it on many occasions that it was fine underneath, isn't it?

I am very proud. Well the first day is back to normal, running around chasing crickets and continuously chilling with the other beardie baby! But it seems yesterday, he slowly taking a turn for the worse. My girlfriend fed them yesterday morning and he didn't eat, she tried again and he didn't eat. Then when I got home last nite, I tried again and watched him very carefully. And it looks like(I'm no expert, but its obvious) there is failure between his nerve system and brain. His motor skills are gone. He can't even run correctly in order to catch a cricket and if one runs by his head he doesn't know what to do. Its like doesn't know how to eat it or what to do with it. He can't even climb a very small tree thingy. He tries to climb and it honestly looks like he is drunk, like he doesn't know who he is or what's going on. And also noticed last nite that he sometimes stares directly up at the top of the viv(reptile guy says if the continuously stare up, its brain damage, coz he has one there that is brain damage from a lil kid dropping him on his head). But mine hasn't been dropped at all. So I can't understand what is going on with him.

the heat mat shouldnt be on the floor as it could burn them, also beardies dig so they could scratch and get a shock which isnt good.

im not sure about the drunk thing your on about. to help try get the little guy eating you could try worms such repti-worms, horn worms, silk worms, superworms or roaches.

if the little guy still isnt feeding then you might have to force feed till he gets over his bad spell. you do this with a small syringe. use baby food chicken or turkey mix in with a little calcium or vitamins and a little bit of water. try putting a little on the end of his noes first if he doesnt take it then you pull down on the beard just enough to get the syringe in(they dont like it at all)

youll have to wait for someone else about the nerve system question, i dont know about that, sorry.

oh okay! That's how all pet stores set them up here. On the floor. So ya.

Well he has his moments, one day he eats, next he doesn't and acts weird and day after he eats again and is fine. So we'll see how he goes. I kept moaning at the store bout the viv and telling them how he is. And I dunno why but they gave me another beardie baby!

But that's where my new problem lies. I cudnt say no, coz it is adorable, so I thought they mite try fight or something with the smaller one, so one by one(the bigger ones) I put them in the viv with the smaller one and kinda introduced them to the new one(the new one is smaller, probably bout 2 weeks atleast younger.) And the sickish one didn't do anything, just went upto it and like licked it and left alone and didn't try bother it and left it. The normal one(havana) started eye balling the small one. Then they had like a mexican stare down the two of them and the smaller one puffed out its beard and it went black underneath his beard. And the smaller one started arm waving a few times, which I read is like a submissive behavior. And havana moved to a different part of the tank. And smaller one carried on arm waving. And then havama chased after the small one. So I took them out and my girlfriend and I held each one and relaxed with it and put them on opposite sides of the tank and through out the whole time the smaller one kept arm waving and puffing up its beard and his body and opened its mouth a lil. And then they eventually left each other. But still watched where one another were. So I thought they would fight. So I split the cage temporarily and looks like I'll need to get another cage. But why did one try being kinda aggressive and other didn't. Is it coz maybe the new one and havana are same sex?

Just need a lil help here....- know I probably shudnt have taken the small one. But it was free and adorable.

males dont tend to get along but really it depends on each beardie. people have 2-4 together some cant have any together. the arm waving is submissive (as far as i know can be other things as well) the black beard and puffing up is aggreshion they may get used to each other but i wouldnt risk it. i do have 2 beardies which i get out and they meet for play time when they run around the house and cause havork, see what they do then, they might just want there own space.

most people on here will tell you to seporate them all...

Hi, did you get the Repti-SUN 10.0 as we recommended or the Repti-GLO 10.0?

How are the beardies doing now? I would definitely keep them all separated for several reasons, it's a good idea to quarantine them to make sure new beardies don't have anything contagious, since the one beardie is acting "sickly", the others could very well pick up on it and nature could tell them to kill it, also you don't know at the point what is wrong with the sickly one so that could possibly be passed on to the others and if one has parasites, they could all get them when housed together.

Well, I did seperate them smaller one. And thor is in his own viv. And other 2 are together. The sickly one is much better. He was ill day after new tank, but now he seems fine. Wanted to ask, does it bother a beardie if he all alone in his tank?

And I did get the repti glo 10.0 one.

beardies like there own space so i wont bother him/her as they are solitary.

im glad that they are all ok now.

It's actually better for them to be alone as minipumpkin said, they are solitary creatures.

As far as the Repti-Glo 10.0 goes, there have been some problems with that particular UVB. So, according to Frances Baines and Tracie (our UVB guru), the safest way to use it is to make sure it is 10" from your beardie and right alongside a bright white basking bulb.

I'm glad to hear that the smaller one is doing better. I would keep a close eye out for any problems with the 2 housed together.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
