Hello... 1 week in and we are in LOVE!!!!

Hello I am Natasha and last week on my birthday my 8 year old son and a friend of mine purchased me a beardie. All I had to do was pick it out and set up its home. Well she is here in my room and is a little stinker I ill tell you that. She is 6-7 weeks old and is between 7-8" to the tip of her tail. She certainly has me feeling like I have a 1 year old child again. She is an awesome gal though and I am already sad that they only live about 10-12 years but on that note I am going to make it the best for her and myself... hey no matter the time we all only live once I am grateful for this forum and the awesome people that really help out here. I about had a nervous break down a couple times this week, but found helpful people and answers here..... like I said she makes me worried and nervous at times just like a little child does any new mom I suppose. lol

Thank you... I am both happy and sad that she will grow out of this stage... Happy mostly because she will be easier to keep up with... man she is a little stinker!!! :lol: She is always hungry and always wanting to explore/escape. But I wouldn't trade her for the world!!!

She looks great!!! I too am about a week into my first BD. It is so amazing!!! Its insane how much they eat and I just started a dubia colony to try and keep up. Awesome pics and great looking Beardie. Cheers

Thank you so much... I also started a dubia colony.. much easier to deal with than crickets(and their die off rate ) and especially on the wallet!! Is your bearded dragon a baby? How old and what did you name him/her?

I believe shes about 6-8 weeks but I do not have a hatch date for her. She eats about 20-30 Crix/Dubias a day!! She has really put on the weight and is shedding right now. Ill have more pics soon. I really love the pattern on yours!!

That tank is amazing!!!!! I only wish I could afford something like that for River, my dragon, I have a large enclosure set aside for her, but not the finances to set it up yet and likely never as awesome as that. I bet Dori really enjoys that habitat

She is so pale.. that is awesome.. she is gorgeous! My gal wont go near vegetables or fruits unless I just stick them in her mouth when I catch her basking and holding her mouth open. lol

Yeah shes a hypo and in the pics she was about to shed. It took me a week to build the inside of her viv. I love DIY stuff and will be building a large enclosure in a few months when its warm out. I will most likely build 2 stackable units and get another Beardie. They are the most amazing creatures. And the materials to make the inside of that probobly only cost me about $25 and its easy to do. The best thing about the fake rock is the insulation factor. My temps are very steady which can be hard to accomplish with an all glass tank. Next vivs are going to be oak or maple though. Probobly with a walnut stain but who knows. Keep the pics coming shes awesome!

I so understand the mom thing. I have had my boy sleeping in bed with me since he was 3.5 months old. (On his own pillow) and just if the last few months has he been sleeping on me. I have to go on a trip for 4 nights and i can't take him with me. This is his first time really being away from me for so long. Last time he had to sleep in the tank he didn't sleep and bearded everyone who walked by. I am so worried leaving him. I have been worrying like crazy for weeks lol. They are just like kids. Home made enclosures are awesome. My papa made me one for Elyott and is just finishing up Gypsy's. i find them much easier to clean and you can make it how ever you like.

Radioactive: that is great... I am also hoping to build River her own enclosure out of mostly wood and maybe plexiglass sliding doors on the front.... Do you have a link to the stuff you bought for the inside of the tank we where talking about? I would love to look into it for my 50 gal I am preparing now. LillyLizard: I couldn't get river to stay with me yet I am sure though today she did travel around the room with me...I just sat her on one dresser then the other and then on the bed as I was moving about the room and she surprisingly didn't take off.. she may of been to nervous from the places, but she seems to enjoy it when I give her the freedom..even though she hasn't abused it yet. lol I'd love to see pictures of both of your homemade enclosures when you guys get them finished or get pictures

So update: River is not a girl. Now he is Lyric... lol He has rapidly grown a massive 3/4" a wk or more... from 7" around March 15th to almost 11" Yesterday!
