I suck at sexing, it confuses me when I look at these pictures that clearly make sense, then I look at my little beardie and I'm like "... Hermaphrodite."

So, help? xD

Now I have to rename, and adjust and all this other stuff Dx How ever will I get used to calling him a her? And when do I have to start worrying about her laying (infertile) eggs?

Exactly why I wanted a male! I'm afraid I won't realize if she becomes gravid, and perhaps becomes eggbound :c

I decided to simply change Atticus to Attica, but it's been so very weird saying "Her" and "She" After nearly five and a half months of having my little boy.

Question: At what age for a dragon can you tell it's sex? My baby is about 3-4 months. & when I check, I also can't tell. From what I see, I do not see two bumps so girl?

I just peeked under Hermes' tail, and I'm more than fairly certain he's a girl. I checked yesterday, and I've been afraid to check again to double check because yesterday when I lifted his tail, something outside must have startled him because he bolted off my hand and jumped down to the floor and sprinted to hide in my laundry pile. I found him in a pant leg almost paralyzed in fear I guess. Poor thing. I've been terrified to check again because I'm afraid he might bolt on me again. Should I take a picture and post, or should I use my best judgement?

If he does turn out to be a girl, that will be a really awkward call to the vet to change the name on his records....

I was told to try when your dragon was over eight inches- Atticus- Attica, is that long and was successfully sexed (almost to my displeasure xD)

Hi,

CONGRATULATIONS!! IT'S A GIRL!!!! :D

I have a female, almost 4 yrs. old. She is what I call "a frequent flier". lol She will lay in-fertile eggs every month. Not all dragons will lay so frequently, especially when she has never been with a male. Her largest clutch of in-fertile eggs is 37.

I changed her light schedule to fit the seasons more properly/accurately, in hopes that it would slow her internal clock. lol I changed her light schedule to simulate winter time. Either that made a difference, or she stopped due to the winter cycle. We will see when spring/summer arrives. lol (I am keeping my claws crossed/lol )

If your dragon suddenly starts pacing, wants out of the viv ALOT, she may be looking for a place to lay eggs. They are very choosy about picking out the spot.

If you see this behavior, drop me a line. If you do, please put in the subject line, Beardie Might Be Ready To Lay Eggs....

I can share ideas on lay boxes, substrates, supplements, etc.

It is best for a Beardie's sake, if they do not breed with a male until they are at least 3 yrs. old. At any age it takes a toll. The younger they are, the more fragile their bodies are.

My girl just keeps going, and going, and going.... lol I know her signs now. lol I am glad she stopped for awhile. (((whew)))

One time, when I had her with me at Ace and Wal-Mart, she decided my right shoulder was the PERFECT spot.... TO LAY EGGS!! She had laid 9 at home already, 1 in the truck on the way, and 21 eggs in Ace, (at the check out counter), and all over Wal-Mart, as I TRIED to shop!! ROFL That is, a total of 21 eggs between the 2 places. That's my girl !!

They are not kidding when they say, "ACE IS THE PLACE", and Wal-Mart: For ALL your needs. I guess she took them literally!

Oh wow xD Well, right now, she's only five months old or so, although she still always wants out... actually, she stopped glass dancing so much a few days ago.

And I don't ever really intend on breeding her- too much of a hassle.

Thanks for the help though, I'll keep you in mind when she starts acting like she maybe wants to start laying xD

Hi,

Ace gave me a small paper bag to put them in. I carried her and the bag into Wal-Mart with me. I was shopping in one of those motorized carts. I would roll, stop, catch an egg, put it in the bag, roll, stop, catch an egg, put it in the bag....You get the idea. The lady at customer service was so excited about watching her lay the eggs. She tried using my cellphone to video tape it. The videos did not come out well. : - (

For the 1st 5 months I have had her, she has laid eggs every month. She has laid clutches of 20, 33, 36, 37, and 37. She is a re-home. I have had her less than a year.

She is a very sweet girl.

Here is the story behind how she came to me.

My Lemon Beardie, Bubba, passed away this year. He passed a week before my sweet girl came to me.

He went into severe distress, very suddenly. I tried bathing him. He literally went berserk in the bath-tub. That was not like him at all. It soon became clear, that the ONLY place he wanted to be, was in my hands. As sick as he was, he was focused on ME! I picked him up. A friend rushed both of us to the emergency vet in Tucson, 75 miles away, one way. As she drove, I gave Bubba mouth to mouth, and chest compressions. I desperately wanted him to live. When we arrived at the vet clinic, he was unconscious, but alive. I knew he probably was not going to make it. As he passed away, I whispered to him...."I don't want you to go, Bubba. But, if you have to go, then go. Please send me a penny from heaven, and let me know you are ok".

Bubba passed away shortly after, approximately 10 minutes later.

Two days later, on a Bearded Dragon group ([email protected]), there was a group email, entitled, "Free to loving home in (my city's name)". I opened the email. The email said that due to their careers, they could not properly care for their Beardie anymore. They were willing to give the dragon and all accessories, including the tank, to a good home. They didn't care about money, but they did care about what home she would be in. I emailed them and said I would like to be her forever slave. They brought her to my house a week to the day that Bubba had passed away. He passed on a Friday; She came to us on a Friday.

They explained that when they first brought the Beardie home, they thought she was a he....

Guess what they had named their 'boy' dragon? You guessed it....BUBBA!
They realized 'she' was a 'he', when she began dropping infertile eggs. lol

I re-christened her Ms. Bubba Rose. Guess what her coloration is? She is a morph. However, you can see alot of lemon coloration in her. She and Bubba would have made some beautiful babies. She turned 4 yrs. old, this month.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In 2010, my sweet, beloved, Miss Sydney, passed away from cancer. She was 2 and a half years old. She was a white dragon. We used to go everywhere together. She and my Sir Darwin would ride on my shoulders. Her on my left one, and him on the right one. lol

As she passed away in my hands, I asked her to please send a penny from Heaven, letting me know she was ok.

The very next day, I was in a client's yard, mowing grass with a riding lawn mower. It was at top speed, all blades were engaged, meaning the mower was EXTREMELY LOUD. As I sat there, riding around the yard, I noticed a black butterfly hovering just above my left shoulder. This butterfly stayed above my left shoulder for precisely 2 and a half hours. I took it as Miss Sydney's way of letting me know that she had made it to the Rainbow Bridge, and she would be waiting for me there. :love5:

I miss all my angels. However, Bubba and Miss Sydney were two of the greatest Beardies I have ever had the privilege of being a slave to. :love10: All of my angels, past and present, are forever in my heart. :love5:

It is probably a girl if there are no bumps. and you can tell from a young age about 1 month :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
