Having Live Plants With My Beardie

I am about to get my first Bearded Dragon and I am wondering what live plants I could put in his cage with him?

My mom grows succulents in our backyard and was wondering if I could put any of those in there with him?

I personally wouldnt risk putting real plants like that with an omnivore lizard that will be eating mostly plants when adult. Ive seen my beardies try to eat inedible stuff like temperature gauges, and green plastic bags so i personally wouldnt trust anything in their tank that they could manage to bite and eat and then possibly get sick. And im not sure how you'd plant it unless bioactive or using eco earth or if your just using a pot for it.

Also personally if i ever put anything in their tank it would be something known to be edible and not cause any problems to them like collard greens or something like that they can have on a daily basis.

I have one live succulent in my beardie's tank in a pot. Succulents are generally pretty healthy if your beardie decides to eat it, but my beardie leaves it alone for the most part. One time she knocked it over, but it wasn't a big deal. I like having it in there purely for aesthetic purposes. Also, her name is Cactus ?

If you wanted to keep another potted plant in your enclosure, try looking up an herb healthy for beardies. If the plant was more aromatic then maybe they'd be more inclined to nip at it every so often. You can't really get much fresher greens than a healthy growing plant.

Some succulents are quite toxic and other stuff quite edible. You’ll want to select carefully. My experience with succulents in the cage is they get trampled so badly they aren’t worth the effort.

Also a lot more lift than you mah expect is required for happy plants
