Has anyone made a hammock for your beardie?

Has anyone made their own hammock for their dragon ? I am planning to make one, but don't know how xD so can anyone tell me how-to and you can also post your pictures of your hammocks

Yeah My mom made one for mine but I know exactly how she did it. She took an old laundry bag and cut out a large square. Then she doubled it over and took some stripping (I am not sure what it is called exactly), and sewed it over the diagonal. Then we used 3M sticky hooks (because they are rounded on the tips) to hang it. I will post pics soon.

Nice idea with the command hooks now I have something I can use. There is a way if you want to tie knots. I forget what I looked up on youtube but I wanted to make one myself also but found one for cheap that they use for ferrets. I think if you look up how to make a fishing net or something like that you can find something.

I'm thinking of making a hammock. The laundry bag idea is perfect! If I can't find the hooks (which I probably will), then a good alternative would be using seaweed clips. But what if I don't have a laundry bag? What would be a good alternative?

I am sure that you could use any cotten. You might want to watch out for Flesse becouse it might melt.

Felt would probably work material wise, as well. You would just have to cut holes for the clips.
It does make the area below the hammock a bit shady, though, because it's not holed out like the other typically used fabrics. So depending on what you want, that could be bad or good! Joanne's is having a sale right now and I got a yard of some nice terra cotta brown felt for like $3.
I personally feel like the seaweed clips might not be strong enough, depending on how big your beardie is, but then again it could work. I really don't know. Good luck to you, though!

Also, homedepot sells screen used for doors that is made to hold up against pets. Its the exact same stuff the pet stores sell as reptile hammocks except you can buy a huge roll of it for the same cost as their premade one. I have 3 homemade ones in my iguana cage.

Do you know how old your beardie is exactly in that picture? My beardie was about that big when we got her, but we didn't know her exact age, other than "baby." We have had her for about two weeks. Thanks, and the hammock is amazing. :mrgreen:

Do you put something under it so they can climb up to it? I've never seen one set up.....

Good question! I've seen someone tie a little rope to their hammock so that their little beardie could climb up and relax :]

I've always put my hammocks close to his elevated basking spots or branches so that he could indeed climb up or onto it. Some people put them down low enough so that the beardie can just jump onto it, which they're surpisingly good at! But I like to keep them up as high as possible, so yeah I always make sure there's a ramp or something.

This is an ollld picture (haven't taken the new ones yet with my DIY basking spot etc) BUT you can see how he could get to the hammock either from dropping down from his basking spot, or climbing up via his rocks. He did both quite often. Happy little guy. :love5:
