I'm so glad that there are people as wonderful as you Christine. I could not do what you do. I would become too frustrated very fast. I'm so happy that Bella has such a wonderful home where she will get all the love she deserves! I'm so happy for you two, I would say more but I must go because I'm pregnant and a basketcase, hearing this good news is too much for my hormones. But hurray for Bella! We all love her!

Jaspersmom I think she is beautiful too, a little piggy at meals, but it's nice to see she has a good appetite.

Protiemama I have had her name picked out for ever, hoping to get a little girl, but didn't think the time was right now, but it's wonderful how things turn out when it's not planned. I'm glad we found each other, and I too think her name fits her as well......... imperfections and all.

Ethelia I'm sure you can relate, now that I know you have a girl with special needs as well, I hope your getting the help you need in the health forum, they are very knowledgable.

dragonkeeper3 Thank-you for your kind words, but I think you'd be able to do the same thing if you were in my shoes, sounds like you have a sensitive heart. I wish you well with your new baby as coming soon, it's amazing how our emotions can get the best of us when we're pregnant, isn't it? :wink: Good thoughts sending your way.


Well, I've up'ed the temps as much as I can, and Bella still is pooping out the butterworms whole, I'm looking forward in getting new lights soon, to see if that helps with digestion. She eats a big salad and any live protein I give her. I've noticed that her urates tend to be like human urine and not as much white as usually seen in beardies, very odd, but I'm keeping an eye on it, has anyone ever seen that before? Other than that, she's behaving and acting just fine, enjoying being held and basking.

Amazing? hah! Just the other day I was watching Air Force One with my fiance and my rooommate and I just started balling! But they had the patriotic music and they just got rid of the bad guys and now they can't land and oh my gosh here are the tears...of course at the same time I'm laughing because I know I'm just a basketcase and oh...it was horrible....I wonder if beardies are hormonal like we are? Weepy and all... I know they get moody, but do they "cry" and stuff? hmm.... :study: Nonetheless, I wish you and Bella the best! I hope she starts digesting, would a slurry be easier for her to digest?

dragonkeeper: I don't know if beardies cry, but you certainly can tell when their depressed or content.
I want to hold off with the slurry, since my Ollie and Pyrex both like to be hand fed and I don't want to start that with Bella, but I may drizzle it on her salad like you would dressing. The salad seems to be digesting better than the worms, and I'm waiting on the new lights to see if that makes a difference, thanks for you input.

Hi everyone,

Bella has had a great week, her colors are getting brighter and brighter, alot of red and orange. She still is pooping out her butterworms whole, but the new lights have come in, so I'm anxious to see if it'll make a difference. I'm seeing white urates "yipee", but she always has alot of fluid along with her bm's, not runny just urine-like. She doesn't appear affected by any of this, and has a good appetite.

I'll be posting some new pics soon, she's so sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just curious; does bella have any difficult going to the bathroom? when my LG poops he lifts his rear end way up off the ground and usually makes a mess :roll: . i have to clean him up after 1/2 of his poops.

No, it doesn't appear that Bella has difficulty with pooping............. just alot of it! :shock:
If I don't catch her elimination before work, there's always a surprise waiting for me when I get home...........then it's dried on her hammock like a brick, so I give her a bath while I'm cleaning everything. I wish she'd go on the other side of her viv, because it would make for an easier clean-up. She's been going 2 times daily............. at least I know everything working............. I think I'm a little too fussy, :roll: but I hold all my babies alot at night, and like them squeeky clean. :wink:

Bella is sure special to me, and her colors are getting more vivid as the days go on. It's been 2 days with the new lighting, havn't seen alot of improvement with digestion though, still am finding whole worms in her potty............ but time will tell.

Today Bella had her salad, consisting of escarole, squash, carrots, zucchini, peppers and strawberries, although I havn't seen her touch the strawberries yet. She has had collards and kale as well, but the escarole and squash is her favorite.

I'm hoping to post 2 videos, one of her eating salad and the other eating the canned crickets. (I get the large cricks, remove the wings, back legs, head and cut them in half) :shock: Sounds so gross, but they are so big and she is small. She had live crickets ocassionally from her previous owner, but I don't like them d/t the parasite factor (I figure that the canned cricks have been roasted in the can and parasites wouldn't have a chance, does that sound right, Diane?) She also loves the phoenix and butter worms too.

I'll try to post some new pics as well,
