GE 100% clear silicone II for gutters and flashing

Have any of you guys used this before? I went and bought some slate tile so I can make a custom basking spot, but I forgot to get the silicone. I ended up finding this stuff around the house and I'm hoping that I can use so I don't have to make another trip lol.

If it is slate and therefore a natural stone, why do you even need silicone?
