My first bearded dragon arrived today! I haven't named him yet but he's such a CUTIE! After weeks of building his viv and dreaming of him he's finally here.
I had him shipped to my office (he came from Midnight Dragons out of Illinois) and he didn't get here till around 11:30. It was SO hard to wait knowing he could be here any minute all morning. Anyway... I popped open the outer box just to be sure he was OK and then rushed him home to his nice warm Viv.
Here he is in his tupperware after we placed him in the viv. It's so cute... he looks so shy.
Here's his first picture out on his bask.
Here is a shot of more of the viv and him. He's a little man in a big world.
Here is some shots of his first meal in his new home.
He sees the worm:
He EATS the worm:
He's a little stressed but hopefully he'll be feeling all better by tonight or tomorrow. Here he is looking like master of his domain:
I'm totally not sure what to name him yet. I think I'll have to see how he is when he's gotten more comfy. I've got a huge pool of names to choose from...I'm just not sure which is most appropriate
I'm just totally smitten. He's a little CUTIE!

I used to work at a small Pet store and we sold Bearded Dragons. They were always little and delicate babies (about 5-6") so we didn't really get to handle them or anything. I thought they were cute but didn't grasp how cool they grew to be. Then one day a customer came in with her adult beardie on a little lizard leash in her carrying bag. She took him out and he sat on her shoulder and was so beautiful and mellow.
Well that started the beardie bug in me. However that was the summer before I went to college and I knew my dorm would be WAY to small for an aquarium and well.... reptiles weren't exactly allowed. Then the past few years after graduation were spent in a relationship where animals weren't exactly welcome. Now I find myself in a position to have pets again and I'm SO EXCITED!
My guy is helping me in planning and building a Vivarium so I can bring home a beardie of my very own! I fully intend to spoil the little bugger ROTTEN! I'm sure I'll be posting pictures and questions while building the viv. I really want to be sure to do it right so my beardie will be as comfortable and safe as possible.
I"M SO EXCITED! I've been chattering incessantly about my future dragon and researching like crazy.
I was hoping to adopt an adult that needs a new home. Is this a good idea for a new owner or should I start with a Juvenile and raise it myself? The pet store I used to work at has a few that are about 12" long right now.
Anyway..... -waves- Hello everyone!
