Im here to question that a naturalist from oakland (california) has her beardie living 11 long years and her pooper pooped every 1week. Im sureley not starving her i give her 60 crickets every about 2-4 days

Oops, looks like we posted at about the same time. How big and old is your beardie and what size crickets are you feeding her?

ONCE again - UNLESS you've had your beardied to the vet for verification that it in fact DOES have food poisoning, do NOT try to diagnose it on your own unless you've got YEARS experience!

With YOUR guidelines I should assume that Angus has Food Poisoning because he poops 2 x a day and sometimes 3 x a day. :banghead:

Clydesgirl asked what I wanted to ask - how old is your beardie that you're only feeding it 60 crix every 2-4 days?

Joshish, I don't want to take sides here. I had posted in one of your other threads with suggestions for mounting a fluorescent fixture inside your viv, but I still don't have a clear understanding of why that can't work. You keep saying it can't work, and I guess we should take you at your word, but you have never given a clear description of WHY it won't work or posted pictures so we can all understand. I think that may be what is causing Kimmie and others so much frustration. We just don't understand your situation.

Moving on from the UVB issue for now, and getting back to your questions in this thread. If your beardie is experiencing food poisoning, my thinking is that she will likely recover on her own. I would make sure she is getting plenty of hydration. Is she still eating well? Also, as I said in my last post, I think it's a cause for concern that she had been pooping so infrequently before this. You didn't answer my questions about how often you'd been feeding her and how much she had been eating prior to the whole spoiled carrots incident. Also, what have you been feeding her besides crickets and carrots, which you'd already mentioned.
Ty clydegirl for asking nicley unlike someone over here. Well the cage has too holes ---__--__--- the rest are plastic glass or sumtin like that. If i put the REPTISUN it will cover all the holes ------------ leaving no space for the heat lamp ( ill post pics) Ive given her a bath last week and im gonno give her a bath today. I feed her every other day. i put 30-40crix in her cage and she usually eats like 20 of em :/ Im buying a cage for the crix today to hold em. So yes that means i used to leave em in the cage.

How much fruit and veggies do you feed her and does she usually eat a lot of it? Pics would help with regard to the lighting question, because I *think* I get what you are saying about the top of your viv, but that still doesn't really clear up the issues about why you might not be able to mount a light inside the viv. Pics would definitely help us get a good idea of your setup and get a better understanding of what you've been trying to explain.

A bath sounds like a good idea. If she is having digestive issues, proper hydration is key.

Hey - no need to beat around the bush, if you are referring to me, say so! I stand by what I said, you ask for help, people reply and you get defensive over and over again, like a spoiled child that doesn't want to listen.

A bath once a week??? Try one every day.

From what I've learned here, you could ditch just about ANY and ALL guides on beardie care and get MUCH MORE VALUABLE information here from those that have had YEARS of experience.

I know I'd do just about anything for the welfare of my beardie ...oh wait, change that to I'd do ANYTHING because I got over my fear of roaches knowing how good they'd be for them. You do what you think is right and have to live with the consequences I guess!

i guess i don't get what the holes on top of the enclosure have to do with you being able to use a florescent tube. i have my fixture stuck on the side of the inside of falkor's enclosure with velcro. it's very strong and holds it very well. i can't possibly imagine an enclosure that wouldn't allow this - unless it was made out of paper or something...

She actually loves her veggies. i usually give her every day rather romain lettuce or Collard. Although we ran out so im still in waiting to buy. In the meantime im giving her some fruit as a treat and buying some stuff tomorow. Ill take some pics later its getting late.

Yes i ask for help not insults on how i treat my beardie. We were having a nice talk about my beardie till you had to blast your mouth and go HOW COME YOU DO THIS AND THAT!!! who cares if i sound like a little child who deosnt want to listen. You sound like a stubborn teenager who thinks shes always right. Websites are known to be unreliable as for they can be made just for advertisments books r pure. If your gonno say no the internet tells the truth and books r outdated haha so ignorant. Again id like you to not reply to any of my posts. Im getting alot of help from the mods and clyde here then you.

Since everyone else seems to be posing on the lighting issue ill get to the food and bath issue.

Salad.. since she is a adult best for her is mustard, colard, turnip, endive, dandilion, escrole any one of those will do. She sould have a fresh salad everyday best to add cold water to it to keep it fresh longer(and when they eat it they get the extra water). You can add other stuff ontop. I think the bugs you are feeding is enough for a adult beardie. Carrots arent really good for beardies as a meal maybe a few here and there sprinkled on the salad.

As for baths they need more than once a week. Might be why so long inbetween poops or she isnt eating enough veggies. I would try and bathe her every other day 20 full mins. to every three days max just to keep her well hydrated. And most likley why she pooped so much in 1 day is the carrotts didnt sit well. Since that sounds like the only thing she ate veggie wize. That isnt uncommin. If i feed one of mine something they dont normaly have that happens to me too and i take very good care of my beardies. Its nothing to worry about it will pass.

I wouldnt leave the crickets in her viv only reason why is that they will bite your beardie. The bites can get infected and cause health problems. And it hurts them to be bitten.

I hope your beardie gets to feeling better soon.

think about it this way - would you want to sit in a bathtub that had poo in it?

also, the water should be lukewarm when you touch it with your wrist.

My beardie poops once a day, around the same time (between 11am & noon) every day. As long as you keep her on a somewhat regular schedule (lighting on & off at the same times every day, food around the same time, etc) her body will probably work on a somewhat regular schedule as well.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
