I was thinking about getting a snake. I like corn snakes, ball pythons, and red-tail boa's. Which would be a good first choice? Easiest to care for and feed ect.

Easiest, and cheapest to raise is probably corn snake. I had one awhile ago and it was a great first snake. Its small enough so your not afraid of it biting you and you can get it tame before its too big :p

That's what I was thinking. I'm not afraid of being bitten I've given myself stitches before. But, size is a factor and I noticed that the ball's and red-tails will get pretty large.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to the next reptile show July 31st more and more every day. Just have to make up my mind before I go.

I've never had a corn but I know they are good 1st time snakes.

I'd go for the ball python tho. They are very hardy and very easy to care for. They very rarely bite and are easier to hold since they don't squirm nearly as much. So if your into holding your snake a ball python might be a better fit, you can hold a corn but they tend to constantly try to get away, at least in my experience.

I'd recommend checking www.youtube.com they have all sorts of videos of people handling BPs and corns that will give you a better idea what to expect. Be sure to do lots of research into care sheets too so your all set and don't have any surprises when it comes to care.

Good luck!

All 3 snakes I have owned.
The corn will be easier to feed and change tanks for as it grows. They also require alot less heat. So a 1st time snake vote would go to corn snake.

What show are you going to on the 31st?
If its the one in lancaster come by my table and show me what you got.

I'll be at the one in Lancaster. Mostly just browsing but we all know how that ends up. A few friends are coming with me and one of them keeps saying how he wants to get a beardie although he's not moving into his house until September maybe he'll change his mind. I've been thinking for a while now and I don't think I'll get a snake just yet. My current list is kind of big as of right now and space is getting limited once again. :)

Just make sure you have an escape proof cage, I thought mine was good but my new, 2 foot long 1 cm diameter corn snake managed to escape last night, even though the lid was weighted down. Found him, but I was panicking for a bit. My other corn is in a locked cage, and I've never had any escape issues with him.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
