Hey beardie lovers!
I have had two dragons, a male and female for about 5 years. They used to belong to a breeder and were a breeding pair for a while. They have lived their whole lives together in the one tank which I know is unconventional but it has worked alright thus far.
I mention this because the male (Musket) commonly performs his territorial display (headbobbing, occasionally black beard) but I have NEVER seen the female (Crunch) do such a thing.
...until 5 minutes ago. She went black, bobbed her head and stamped her foot at me. I was shocked, as I always thought of her as a quite and reserved lizard, while Musket is the one who thinks he's so macho. It happened as I took them out to hold while doing my homework.
Is a female territorial display normal? Why might she be doing it now when I've never seen it for 5 years? She has started shedding which I know can be stressful for lizards, but I'm worried she has some hormonal issues or something.
