Female head bobbing?

Hey beardie lovers!

I have had two dragons, a male and female for about 5 years. They used to belong to a breeder and were a breeding pair for a while. They have lived their whole lives together in the one tank which I know is unconventional but it has worked alright thus far.

I mention this because the male (Musket) commonly performs his territorial display (headbobbing, occasionally black beard) but I have NEVER seen the female (Crunch) do such a thing.

...until 5 minutes ago. She went black, bobbed her head and stamped her foot at me. I was shocked, as I always thought of her as a quite and reserved lizard, while Musket is the one who thinks he's so macho. It happened as I took them out to hold while doing my homework.

Is a female territorial display normal? Why might she be doing it now when I've never seen it for 5 years? She has started shedding which I know can be stressful for lizards, but I'm worried she has some hormonal issues or something.

Yep my 4 yr old girl Rex headbobs everyday, especially at the juniors (Peppa but not a much as she does at our little boy Toothless). I usually feed the two yearlings and let them run about for a while before Rex gets her feed and time out, both visit her and she "talks" to them.

Gets very animated with the slow head bobs and alternative armwaves at Toothless.
She does occasionally BB , but this rare.

I have seen her stamp her front feet while headbobbing sometimes if she's particularly upset about something, but been ages since she did that.

She has never headbobbed how Puff used to, he'd literally go jet black in the beard and looked like he was going bob his head off on occasion , and you'd hear the front feet stamping.

I recommend you separate your two, not very wize to keep two adults together ALL THE TIME.

One thing I have noticed is that females typically do a slow motion gentle bob. Much different than the vigerous explosive head bobs like a male.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
