Expandable enclosure

Has anybody ever thought about making an expandable enclosure? Have a couple of pieces of glass glued to wooden bottoms, and they would link together like puzzle pieces. There would be top runners to make sure it didn't fall over that would be halfway over each piece, straddling the small gap between pieces. Those would link to gether in the same manner as the bottom pieces. Have some corners that link to the to pieces and provide support, and tiles to lay down and you're set. Put a plastic bag beneath for water protection. The idea was that for a growing beardie or easy transport/storage you could stack the cage, and take the viv with you, thereby minimizing relocation stress and costs. Instead of having to get 2 tanks, you could just make some more pieces! or may be good in a disaster situation, to set up temporary tanks. May not be the best for humidity-loving species. Look at the pics, it's easier to draw than explain:) (You could also get little connector piece to link a corner(innie) to an "innie" piece.) There would be runnners on top that functioned like the bottom pieces, but weren't glued on. There would also be half-runners to link the top runners to corners and still have them link the sections, or maybe the top wood section of the corners would have to be extended.

Yep, do it, then market it:) I wonder how hard it would be to make... Probably not very... I could take Yoshi with me everywhere, w/o having to compromise his space. Yippee! He needs a bigger viv anyhow... This x lighted volcano = SUPER AWESOME!!! :D

I've done it with my china water dragon, got the idea from my parents extended dinning room table, an its a great idea. I didn't use runners tho, and i like your runners idea better then the locks and hinges i used. i basically just added pieces of wood to the back an piece of glass with a wood frame in the front to the center of the cage. so the corners would never have to be meddled with. an i just used sliding locks to hold the pieces in place, not very sturdy but it did the job. the idea was for large cages that were half the size of a room to be broken down so they could be transported from one apartment to another. i say if you have the time to make them like puzzle pieces to do it! if not sliding locks work well.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
