I agree!

You can also cut back a few hours a day of the lights being on during Summer months by building an outdoor enclosure that your beardie can spend a couple of hours in each day that it is nice.

Yeah! I'm in Cali too.......now I just need 7 more outdoor enclosures.

Also beardlover if you breed some of your own feeders that can help with bringing down the cost of your beardies needs won't help with Electricity, but it will give you more money to use toward it.

It's not the cost of the electricity - I was thinking more from an environmental stand point.

Yes - I agree about cutting in other places - So tell me, what other places to do you cut down your energy consumption?
Think about the power used to keep your little buddy happy and healthy...and then everyone else on this site too....and we can't forget about those who don't cruise through the pages of BD.ORG
Some of the things we do to help... turn the heat down in our house during the day while we are work, and we also turn the heat down at night. Making sure you turn lights out when you don't need them is another easy way to cut back...

I use halogen flood lights for Randal's heat lamps since they use less wattage to kick out the necessary amount of heat.

In most of the rest of the house we use energy saving light bulbs, and this upcoming summer we're planning on using an energy-star window air conditioning unit in our bedroom - it's where we spend most of our time when we're home and that way we can limit how much we use our central AC unit which tries to cool the whole house down. We have our thermostat programmed so that our heater/AC isn't running much while we're out at work (only as needed to keep the pets from freezing/overheating). We also try to be conscious of recycling whatever we can and I've been looking into getting a backyard composter for all the greens and other organic type waste.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
