Richter is getting there in size, at 19.5" and just under 500g, and everyone calls him massive. Your boy has gotta be a gator!

I had this weird expectation until recently that 24" was the average size of a normal beardie and that anything under was small, then realized that 24" this is referring to german giants, though they have been known to pass 24". I feel silly.

Me too!!! I'd read that 24" was average and GG were 36" average. So when the girl told me he was 5 years and 15" I assumed that he hadn't been taken care of and I was worried. When I went to pick him up my eyes popped out at how massive he is. So I had to dig out my scales and ruler and she didn't measure him correctly. He's 20" and missing about an inch off the tip of his tail. But you're totally right the 24" is is he average GG and and I think they just throw that size around for regular BD as a oh hey yeah they totally get that big. I think he might actually be bigger than my moms tea cup whatever mop thing.

How old is Richter? Love the name by the way. And omg yes he totally does look like a lil tiny crocodile!!! His guy doesn't have a name yet but since he's so massive he's gonna need a name that suits.

Why not Gator? or Croc? My vet called Richter a T-Rex because of how big he is, but I've always referred to him as a gator. I call Richter "Beaks" as a nickname :lol: Name progression.

He is about 8 1/2 to 9 months old now. I got him October 29th, 2016 and he was about 1 1/2 months old at the time, 6 3/4 inches.
If your guy is missing some tail that would definitely imply he is so much bigger. May have to start referring to him with this snout to vent size which I honestly have never done

I'm going to have to dig through your posts and check this guy out now!! Mags at 10 months was only 13" and 125 grams(further proof that she was unhealthy from birth CHF). Lol why beaks?! That's hilarious! This guy eats like a bird so when I read that I cracked up ?

It's so hard not to measure that big fat tail. I just wanna sing "baby got back" to him. But his missing tail price really is just the tip, maybe an inch because I didn't even notice it at first. Still can't get a photo to upload :/

I caved and adopted a bouncing baby boy!!! Actually he's a giant 5 year old spoiled monster and I'm already in love with him. He's HUGE!! The photos did him no justice, he's a beast. Seems very healthy so far except a little spot on his tail the scales are raised. Looks like either it got ***** in something or retained shed. I tried to take a photo but it didn't quite show. Is it ok to put some neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment on it?

I am SO PROUD of you for taking him in, he needed you as much as you needed him!
I can't wait to see some pics of this spoiled monster..... Congratulations!

Today he's not quite as rambunctious. I figure at some point he'll go through a bit of relocation stress.... which maybe today. He's a little dark and just kind of laying around. Yesterday he was a total spazoid!!

Ok so today is day three and all three days his poop has been undigested. I'm going to keep him in his tank as much as possible today and no more supers for a few days.
