Emmett, EMILIO, Emma..RIP sweet Emily

Woke up this morning to about 8 inches of snow on the ground. Snowed most of the day and bitter cold. Emmett,Emma and Emilio are hunkered down nice and warm in their tanks, CHES come out tonight to give a little more added warmth through tonight. I know they will be fine under their covers with the CHEs tonight.
OK now for me. Yesterday got up at the crack of dawn for the long trip to Fort Carson in Colorado Springs to see the eye doctor there. The dr examined my eyes and said yep the cataract has to come off. This is where the fun of the trip began. He wanted to get as much as he could out of the way for preop as possible so we would not have to make so many trip to Evans hospital. He tried to get a measurement on my eye for the new lens and couldn't since the cataract is so dense. So he sent me down the hall for a sonogram on my eye for a measurement, to dense for that. So the put a cup on the sonogram and filled it with water to redo the sonogram. Now if you never had a sonogram of your eye the cup and Doppler rest directly on your eye and a cool stream of water over the eye allows for it to move with ease. Problem, they got it positioned and moved it a touch and I blinked popping the cup and Doppler out of my eye. It felt like a colony of spiders infested my eye lashes. My eye was numbed with drops so could not feel it on my eye itself but that thing against my lashes was weird. So they put it back in and get the measurement. I asked the tech if I was having twins :lol: and she said the size of the cataract was so bad I was having quadruplets :lol: . Dr came back in and I asked him when my due date was. I go back the 12th to meet with the anesthesiologist and to sign my eye over to the drs care. I don't have a time yet but surgery is scheduled for the 14th. I go back the 15th and 21st for a checkup then one more trip for a followup a month later. After we left the hospital I wanted to hit the base exchange to look around and met Santa Claus so we talked a bit. I had my picture made with him. I can now in all honesty say I got naughty with Santa at the px on Fort Carson in Colorado Springs and have the picture to prove it :shock: :lol: My hair is a mess after all the hoopla at the hospital so overlook it its soaking wet.

That's really funny! I can't imagine what it must have felt like to have something sitting on your eyeball. Ick! At least the doctor was nice enough to not make you drive back and forth and allowed you to get the measurement done yesterday.

Wow, at least your eye will get fixed soon. I wear contacts, mainly because my eyesight is soo bad I have to get things close to my eye (when I don't have my contacts in or my glasses on) to see. I have had contacts since August of 1974. Back then all they had was hard and soft contacts. Things have changed a lot. I was told by my local eye Dr last August that I had the start of cataracts in my left eye. I had a ulcer in my right eye, but, thank God, it wasn't really bad and with the drops I put in every day (couldn't wear my contacts so I was very thankful that I had glasses I can use) and the cream I had to put on every night, it was cleared up in 10 days. I understand the frustration of all the Doctor visits. Your story of what they put into your eye to get the measurements sounds icky. If they hadn't numbed your eye, they wouldn't have been able to get the measurements. i will pray that God will direct the eye Doctor to do things correctly and this works the way it should this time.

The 3 Ems are doing well but Emmett and Emma both are putting themselves in their beds by 7 pm. I just cover them up and let them sleep.

I didn't come on here Christmas day. We went into our local town to spend a little time with my mother who is in a local rehabilitation facility after her 2nd hip surgery. Anyway, I send belated "Merry Christmas" greetings to you and your whole family (including your reptile children).

Just wanted to check in. Everything is fine here, just getting anxious to get this surgery done and over with so I can see again. The 3 Ems are great. Active little piggys..eating me out of house and home. I am afraid Emma is gonna be a small dragon in body length. Her tail is so long but she is petite in size. She eats a lot but isn't growing much, she is healthy just gonna be small. I may not be back till after surgery on the 14th..it hurts to try and focus for now but back I will be.

I'm glad to hear everything is well. Perhaps she will get a late growth spurt. Either way it's no big deal if she's small. Both of my boys were on the small side. I hope your surgery goes well! I'm sure you're looking forward to seeing clearly again. Best wishes. Check back when you can.

Lil Squirt is under (we believe) 14 inches. She's always been small. She's healthy but seems to be ready to lay eggs again. She prefers to dig outside then lays somewhere in our bedroom - however it's too cold here (even without snow) to let her go outside.

Cierra & Nathaniel might be 18" with their tails, but they're very petite in their build. But they're my babies and I don't care, it's funny to lift them after Castiel and Gabriel, who weigh over 100g more than them.

Thursday is my surgery so will be back this weekend. Checkup on Friday for post op. My little beardie family is doing well. If it doesn't stop with the snowing we will be buried. Not snowing now but had our fair share last week. Must have shoveled a ton of the white stuff and Emmett watched out the window never moving from the towel he was wrapped in. I warm towels in the dryer so they can sit on the windowsill a bit and watch outside without getting to cold.

Did Emmett seem like he wanted to play in the snow, or just wondered what you guys were doing?

I am home and go back tomorrow for post op check. Surgery lasted, I kid you not, 8 1/2 minutes. I was awake for it all and now have a lime green patch on my eye. I can see again which is wonderful. I have no pain in my eye but cant wear my glasses with the patch. i'm tired and slept all the way home, got home and slept, and ready to sleep again. I am glad its over and a success.
