Egg Questions....

Hey everyone.. I was wondering the best way to move eggs to a deeper container. Now that they have grew they are pressing against the top of the plastic container in the incubator. Any ideas?

So is this a professional incubator or a homemade one? I've got eggs right now too & mine r in a homemade one which worked great for me 4 yrs ago & I set it up exactly the same. However, my question is too, u have a lid on the plastic container w/ the vermiculite & eggs in it? When I set mine up, it sed not to put a lid on the top of the egg-holder itself, but u do put a cover on the top of the incubator. It may b totally different with a store-bought incubator than the one Ive got. Idk. But mayb I'm wrong & need a lid on the container too??? The eggs I had 4 yrs ago didn't have a lid either & they were fine. If its ok mayb u cud just take the lid off??

Yes its a Hovabator and it said to put the lid on but I would rather have it off if its ok to do that.. Hope someone could let me know..

I've never used anything but a homemade incubator. I went online to look up the Hovabator incubator u sed ur using to see what it looked like, how much room, etc. I'm amazed that ur eggs r large enuff to b touching the top!! They must b huge! When r they due to hatch? The pics I looked at of the Hov. inc. seemed to have several inches of top space above where u place the eggs. Obviously they're made for chicken eggs which of course r much larger than beardie eggs so u must have sun really large eggs like I sed! If u open the top then u'll mess up the temp. It'll probably drop & cud kill the eggs. The purpose of the incubator of course as we all know is to keep the temp correct & consistent. I'm afraid if u open it or take the top off it wud spoil that. Guess what I'm saying is that I'm at a loss here. It looks like u shud have plenty of room but if not, I'm not sure. :?: Is there any way to lower the shelf or whatever it is they're sitting on? I know there's water underneath it but mayb u cud drain sum out & lower them an inch or so till they're ready to hatch. I can't think of anything else that might help but I've tried. Hope mayb u can try that & it works or sum1 else can help. Keep us informed.

Let meclearify. I have the eggs in vermiculite in a clear plastic container with a lid all inside the incubator. So the eggs are actually just touching the plastic container tops.

Ok... Sorry. Was thinking no lid on the container & they were touching lid of incubator! Duh!! :? Anyway, yeah I wud definitely remove that lid if they're touching the top. Last time (& this time too) I didn't have a cover on the container & they did fine but now am reading u shud have a cover. I just placed one on there a couple hours ago. U read so many things & it seems they all have different details but I read & was told too not to use a lid. I don't think it'll hurt anything to remove the lid---u definitely don't want them squashed! Lol
