When I cut bins I do it outside with a wood burning iron lol! It feels really slow while you do it, but really it takes seconds to a minute. No rough edges either :)

It was my first time using a boxcutter and I managed to cut my finger. Not a bad or deep cut it just freaked me out at first  so I'm declaring war >:)

Not sure if the roaches have been eating the cat food... should you be able to tell their eating or it or do you kinda have to assume? It doesn't look like the mound I put in there is getting smaller... but then again I did spill a lot of it in their bin and I haven't cleaned it, so maybe their eating that

You will usually never see a noticeable difference in the roach chow. They seem to only go crazy over some sweet fruits or some citrus.

They are eating it, just very slowly lol.

Yeah, I noticed they maul the oranges  lol. And sometimes they even leave their lovely frass on it. By the way, how throughly do you need to clean the bin? Because don't the nymphs like the frass or something... :| ?

I only clean the bin out like once a month, maybe even less than that.

They do... I guess, but that doesn't mean they can't eat the food you put in.
When I clean the tank I dump all the frass out and scrub the tank with dish soap and let it dry. Then I put the colony back in there.

What do you do with the colony when you're cleaning out the bin? put them in another bin temporarily? if you clean them out every 6 weeks, aren't you disturbing them from mating?

I put them in an extra bin I have laying around.

Possibly, but like I said, I don't always do it every month. Honestly I don't think it really disturbs breeding too much. Maybe once every 2 or three months is better.

With a larger colony though, the frass fills up fast, and it almost needs to be cleaned once a month lol.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
