lol xD. Nice , cool do you use water gel. I currently don't because the only brand I could find was Miracle Grow and I dont know if that's safe. Anyone use miracle grow water gel?

What do you guys feed your dubia? I feed ground up cat food and oranges.

ground up dog food, oranges, apples, greens(they don't really seem to like greens), carrots.

the real question is: do the roaches change characteristics depending on the food they eat?
in other words, if they're eating dog food, do they start barking? if they're eating cat food, are they considered hissing roaches? :wink:

lol that would be funny to hear roaches meowing. I feed mine roache food special made for them from the roachecafe and its cheap like 5 bucks for a pound(and thats alot!). they eat a spoonful in a day and seems to plump them up for the sacrefice to my dragon. :lol:

I use "soul moist crystals" that I picked up at Lowes in the garden center.

I went to lowes and home depot and they didnt have the soil moist brand that everyones talking about =/

I just got some off ebay, I have not mixed any up yet though I really should for the crickets my girl has to eat. I plan to put a small amount of crystals in a baby food jar lid (like really really small amount) and fill the lid then let it set. I will let you know how it turns out!

I think that site shows how to take water crystals and expand them into jelly. It's amazing how much the stuff expands. I mix 2 teaspoons of crystals with 4-5 cups of water in a salad bowl, wait 2 hours and all the water is absorbed and the crystals are fully expanded. I then take all the expanded crystals and place them in a heavy ziplock bag and use as needed. I leave the bag right next to all my other supplies, no need to refridgerate.

Also, how often do you guys replace the water crystals. I now know that cat food can stay in for maybe 3-4 days, and oranges only 1-1&1/2 days?

the water crystals can stay in as long as they don't get too messy(roach poop).

Okay I have yet another question. when I setup the dubia habitat, I used loctite to seal the screen to the bin , i dont have a hot glue gun. is that alright (i already did it so idk) :dontknow: ?

You sealed the bin? How will you open it? Perhaps I am misunderstanding?

Edit: I re-read lol you used it to put the screen on! LOL I am so silly. Should be ok just let it dry and air out well before putting in any dubia.

no I mean I glued the screen with loctite (cut a hole in the lid then used loctite to hold screen) sorry poor word choice on my part.
