am planning on setting up a colony soon, will be buying from the roach ranch, but i wanted to see if any of you had issues with your beardies not eating the roaches? i would had to spend the money and get a colony set up and have dino not like them or be interested in them. just trying to feel around and see, he has been doing alot better with the crickets will easily eat 25 now, thinking the reptisun 10.0 was why he wasnt eating right. So the main question is, have any of you had a fussy beardie that wanted nothing to do with little roaches? I wont be setting up a colony for couple of months, but i would like to know your guys experience, wish i had some place or someone close that had some so i could try a few and make sure before i take the plunge lol. or if anybody would be willing to send me a few for a small fee id be glad to pay and check that way. thanks alot everyone for all the help so far. dino appreciates it as well

I know that Elliott absolutely LOVES them. he will not touch a cricket now. If i put in a roach with 100 crickets he will gobble up that roach and leave the crickets alone.

Pay for shipping and I will gladly send you a few.

I only know one person that has ONE beardie that wont touch them, thats because they dont run fast enough for him.

thats what i was figuring, i wasnt expecting people to say they were having issues, i know he has his times with crickets probably just a phase. do you guys dust your roaches as well, im sure you probably do but wasnt sure how much more of a nutritional difference there is between crix and roaches. thanks everybody so far for your input

sometimes bruno gets a little burned out on roaches so I switch to something else for a spell. Beardies thrive on variety~

yes, dust the roaches just as you would anything else. They are so easy to handle that I just sorta dip them individually into the container of calcium supp or the multi-vitamin to coat them a little.

i dont think ill have a problem handling them, cant be much worse if any than crickets, as long as its not spiders or anything with alot of legs im ok. cant wait to get the small supply and see what he does, im sure he will go crazy because when he sees me grab his cricket container across the room he starts pacing and jumps down to watch me dust them and then jumps back up to be close to my hand when feeding them. Maybe hes not even a picky eater anymore, i dont refuse crickets like he has, but i usually limit him to about 20-25 right now because buying from the petshop its too expensive, ill be getting an order tomorrow so he will get as many as he can handle until they are gone. thanks so much for all the input.

Ohhh crickets I have no problems with... but these things don't let go of what they are holding on to so when they crawl on me it gives me the heebie geebies... this coming from a girl that loves tadpoles, lizards, etc.

Think of Blaptica Dubia like .......... Little post it notes w/ a shell. On anything other than glass or plastic, they hold on for dear life! Sorta like when we were kids climbing trees and we got a little too high. They're natural reaction to a threat is to run and hide. It's sorta funny but sad at the same time because they have no defense to anything. They don't bite, sting.... nothing. So it's run... or be eaten. After you get used to them they actually become quite comical and you feel bad feeding them. But by far they have a character unlike any feeder insect I've ever dealt w/.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
