dragon bloating and has a black throat once in awhile.

I Have a question way does my dragons bask amd bloat. Once in a while they turn dark and there throat is black and gets puffy. Why is this happening thanks john l

Don't worry, this isn't a health condition, it is just some common beardie behavior. Bearded dragons darken there throat and puff it out when they feel threatened or if they are upset. And if he is puffing out his body to make it look bigger this goes hand-in-hand with the black beard display, its to make themselves look more intimidating to potential foes. However if he is puffing out his body while he is basking he is most likely just trying to warm up faster.

Exactly. It's just to make him look bigger and scarier when he feels threatened. Puffing and darkening of the throat, sometimes called 'bearding', is where they get their names from.
