Title says it all. Mine used to love being pet on top of the head or her beard, not so much on the top of her head anymore. She'll still accept pets down the back most of the time though.
My bearded dragon likes to be pet on the head, back, beard...ect. however, my sister's dragon doesn't really liked to be pet on the head or beard, it's just how they are.
I'm sure dragons can show their preference for what they tolerate, do not tolerate, and maybe even enjoy. My Devlyn does not like having her tail stroked, especially by the base. She glares a good side eye and will move her tail away or walk away (I learned quick don't touch the tail). Head, beard, back, and legs are okay. She will even totally relax her legs so the pets can move her legs forward or back, which seems like enjoyment to totally relax the limb.
My scale children have been and still include :
Central bearded dragons - even by new little boy Caesar quiet enjoys being gently stroked by me on the back , the top of his head , and when he's on my chest/ tummy or sitting in my hand , under under his chin (he LOVES that !!).
Eastern Bluetongue skinks - adore being petted while having a snuggle into inside of my arm.
Eastern Water skinks - have all loved being stroked gently in their backs , one loved having his tummy tickled too (he would lean back into my hand while standing in my hand and if I stopped he's pat my finger to make me start again).
Tampico loves her heard and back stroked. She occassionally loves the spikes near her ears rubbed. She hates her feet being touched and she's iffy on her tail being touched. Haha She loves to snuggle her little nose into my neck though!
