It is recommended humans eat at least three times a day, I've heard even eating six small meals a day is healthy. How could you say it's good for a human to go a day without eating? It's no better for a bearded dragon. It is recommended to feed them at least once a day when they're adults. Therefore, feeding them once a day is not going to make them fat.

There are always going to be people who do things differently no matter if its proven to be a dangerous or unhealthy thing, we've seen this with people who use sand, if he feels that what he is doing is right and isn't causing a problem we should stop trying to convince him otherwise cause we wont, we can hope that maybe someday his views will change and he will realize that maybe some things that he did in the past were not in the best interest for his animals. Until then we can only hope they are as healthy as they can be and that they life a proper, long healthy life.

I completely agree his opinion is his opinion, however its important we point out its wrong so others dont follow in his steps. Let the fact that his dragon is 15 inches at a year show that his views on husbandry and feeding are inaccurate. I rescued my dragon from a horrible breeder who thought uva and uvb were the same thing and she is 16 inches with half a tail.

Yeah, it just bothers me that Maytes beardie is suffering from his lack of proper care, and that he is too stubborn to consider doing anything different. :| Even if Maytes doesnt change his mind, at least other people will see this thread and know what the healthiest thing is for their dragon, instead of listening to Maytes "advice". have you ever tried to fast for more than a day you lose all energy you start shaking get light headed etc.. humans can fast for days but its uncomfortable. horses ecpecially thoroughbreds need food everyday or they lose weight fast. horses graze all day in the wild they cant not eat for a day.
beardies are adapted to fasting that is the reason for fat pads but thats only because in the wild there isnt a reliable source of food. they are healthier and happier if they have food everyday which we can provide here in captivity

People like him really make mad. There was a guy on here the other day trying to say he didnt have the money to buy reptisun when he was spending more money on zilla and trying to say we only use reptisun because of corporate marketing, and that zilla is just as good.

yeah, this same guy is under the impression that 30 gal long is big enough for a beardie, and that sand is natural for beardies. i think this guy should be banned, he is either dumb as a rock or just trying to rile ppl up. and this so called beardie expert had a post not too long ago asking how to clip beardie nails. uhhhh.....you take clippers and clip them?

First of all, your advice is nothing but your anus speaking. Second of all, youve been on pet forums for over 30 years? Really? Like really?! Think about that for a minute buddy. Id like to see how you got on forums 30 years ago. Especially since you are probably like 12. Will you do us all a favor, and drop the "Holier that thou" attitude? You seem to think that you are the expert at everything, and the " My life experiences are much greater than yours" is pretty rude, IMO. Seriously, who do you think you are?!
