Crickets vs. Wax worms!?!?

I was wondering whether I can use wax worms instead of crickets as a meat source for my beardie. If so, how many wax worms should an adult beardie eat per day?

Wax worms should only be offered as an occasional treat as they are considered "beardie candy". They are very fatty and can cause fatty liver disease over time. They are several other worms that you can offer...silk worms, phoenix worms and if your beardie is 16" or longer, superworms.

Thank you! So I may feed pheonix worms instead of crickets then? No need to dust these worms either?

No need to dust them. And depending on how hold your beardie is would determine how many to feed. If you have a baby, then just give him as many as he can eat 2-3 times a day. Once they get older then you can slow it down. Be warned though, they are small so you may go through quite a bit for awhile :D

I am going to pick up some silkworms and phoenix worms on thursday, hope he like them.

I actually have no idea how old my dragon is... I adopted him three weeks ago and the granny I got him from has no idea how long she's had him for :(

I have been looking all over Michigan (even to the local Reptile Show) to get some of these locally and cannot find a thing.. I can't do roaches because the girfriend will probably murder me.... so looks like I have to continue to hand feed crickets! Hooray!

I can order online but the shipping is crazy for these.... from Mulberry at least that's where I looked.

Best to order phoenix from the source: http://www.phoenixworms.com They send priority mail and and do not charge for shipping. They also have more options for ordering--the more you order, the less you pay per worm. :)

Let's assume my dragon is 5 years old, how many phoenix worms do you think I should feed/day?
