claw ripped out

Hello,
My beardie ripped out her claw on her right front leg. It is the one right next to her "thumb". Compared to the same digit on her other hand, the injured one looks a little shorter and looks pretty raw. I'm not sure if it's just because the claw is missing or if some of her finger is missing too. I found the claw and it looked like it was ripped out clean; there was no skin, tissue or anything stuck to it. She must have pulled it out on one of the rock caves I made for her. She was definitly bleeding because there was a blood mark about half the size of a dime on the tile near one of the rocks (that's actually what I noticed first). Her behavior is exactly the same as usual, not favoring it or anything. You would think she was not in any pain at all. She must have done it while I was at work today. She is my first beardie and about 22 months old and has never been hurt or anything. I am upset over this and am not sure what to do. I read on the forums here about neosporin and bedtadyne solution. Should I apply these and how? Should I stick her hand in the betadyne solution or just apply it with a Q-tip? I have neosporin + pain relief. Is this ok to use? Thanks in advance for the help....

Neosporin would be great. It shouldn't be a big deal, as long as it is kept clean and doesn't get infected. Disinfect cage furniture and substrate regularly. (Make sure to rinse well!) If you use a loose substrate, you may want to switch to paper towels until the wound has healed up. You may also want to sand down the rock caves to make sure it doesn't happen again.

It won't affect her balance or walking (although it won't grow back either); missing digits are common, although the cause is usually hungry siblings.

It should heal up nicely soon. But at the first sign of infection, take her to a vet!

Thanks for the advice. I have never had anyrhing like this happen to her.I'll try and put some neosporin on it the morning. I have her on tile and the tank is usually really clean. I'll disinfect her basking rock with boiling water.
I have no clue what she could have done to tear the nail off though. I was looking in the tank today and couldn't see anything to get caught on

Hmm. Could it have gotten stuck between the tiles maybe? :? I worry about that with my beardie; his tiles aren't grouted in.

Well, I'm betting she'll have a quick and easy recovery! :D Keep me posted.

I went throught the exact same thing a few weeks ago, so i know how you feel. I found out it was because she was trying to dig in the slate tile! she got so into it, the nail just popped out (she has damaged it previously so there was not bllod supply etc) I made sure to dip it in a benatine or iodine bathe three times a day, and when she was in the bath got a Q-tip and just gave it a little rub. Its healing over now so no perminant damage!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
