So my beardie is probably around 2, and I’ve had him a year. I got him from Petco. On and off the past two months he’ll stop eating and hide all day. Today is Saturday. Monday was the last time he ate. I stopped the insects on Tuesday so he would eat the veggies. Today I tried to give him...

Here is a thread that discusses a similar issue. Hopefully you can compare it to your own beardie's experience. Has he lost any weight? Does he have normal bowel movements? Does his skin look healthy and normal? Do you have proper UVB (Arcadia or Reptisun fluorescent tubes) and good temps in the basking spot? It may also help if you post a couple of pictures of your beardie and your enclosure (including showing how your UVB/basking bulbs are set up).

Well let me say that I have taken the advice of Kerri and Drache when it comes to the lighting inquiry. I also have a very expensive digital probe thermometer. I am sure his enclosure is good to go. I have been reading through the threads of a similar nature and Perseus does show alot of the brumating behaviors. However, with that being said I had the same questions for our Atlas and found that he was very ill and died on us. I was just hoping that there was possibly something I may have missed. At any rate, Perseus came out of his cubby hole from under his blanket and seems to be content. He didn't eat this morning but he seems spunky.
I'm so sorry to hear that you lost Atlas! Hopefully, Perseus is indeed gearing up for brumation and isn't ill. @Drache613@CooperDragon@AHBD. What are the top ways to differentiate brumation from illness? From what I know, signs of an actual illness would be things like weight loss, any unusual lumps/bumps, unusual stool, etc. Has your beardie seen a vet recently? It seems to be largely a process of elimination.
Yes, those are some signs but a sick beardie may just suddenly die without any symptoms at all, Google will bring up cases like that. Brumation itself would never cause death unless there was an underlying, even hidden condition but it is not common . Sorry to hear about Atlas, what were his symptoms and activity level before he died ?

Well let me say that Atlas did have underlying health issues, we rescued him from someone who had no clue on beardie care. At any rate, Perseus looks good really and his poop looks healthy. He loves the greens. I'm guessing we are paranoid and we are making him an appointment with our vet who is actually recommended from this site.
Good, I think the problem is an operator error, lol. But yeah Perseus seemed happy go lucky... wants to follow me around the house like he usually does. He likes to bask in the window. I'm still making him an appointment in the morning though.

He is a big boy -- a lot of dragons will slow down in the fall / winter -- mine have -- doing a lot of sleeping but they are still basking but not eating a lot - I would just watch his behavior --- please NO enemas at the vet -- if they want a fecal then you need to take one in please--
