So the decision was completely up to Carl, because Xena was his babygirl, and I know no-one else in the world can ever replace her... but he has always wanted to raise a baby dragon, seeing as how 3 of our 4 are rescues, and adults when we took them in...

So darn if they aren't totally like, well as fresnowitte says, P-R-I-N-G-L-E-S-!

So Carl picked out his baby... it'll take a little while to name her, we have to see her personality. Welcome into our hearts, little one... almost 14 inches / 166 grams / crazy hyper personality so far ...

As soon as we got her out of the packaging, she made a bee-line for my son's leg & pancaked out, so CJ got the first real snuggles, he's my little seatwarmer:

Look at that sweet face:
111210-bg04.jpg

111210-bg05.jpg

Ooh, soft, what's this?
111210-bg06.jpg

Yum, salad... nom nom nom...
111210-bg07.jpg

Hey, lady, I cleaned my plate, can I have more?...
111210-bg08.jpg

Oh, wait, ...
um, what else was I gonna say? ...
Oh, yeah,

There's MORE!

I had to crop that first picture, look really closely...

did you look really really close?
???
Really?

Barbara was worrying about finding this little guy a special home, and Carl fell in love with him/her too... so he's our "little guy/gal"... Quasi now looks huge, and Crash looks like Godzilla compared to these two!

So meet little guy / 60 grams / 11 inches ... so laid back, just watches everything going on, and eats and eats and eats (hand-fed salad today  )

111210-lg04.jpg

Just a little stress going from Cali to Ohio...
111210-lg07.jpg

Bath time! This little one loves to swim already!

111210-lg09.jpg

Ooh, what's this?
111210-lg10.jpg

111210-lg11.jpg

Ooh, what's up here -- slowly progressed up the branches, then just watched us and all the activity in the room for about an hour...

Ok, we're hoping to hear from the doc today for Carl ~ his pain mgmt doc office sat on the paperwork for 3 days. That was the first "tick me off" factor... then they referred it out to the orthopaedic surgeon, and I had to hunt them down because they were not calling us... then they could not get him in because that ortho doc was going on vacation... ugh.

So he referred us to one of his partners... not board certified, which I prefer bd cert for this because of the back injury of 12 years... then that office called yesterday and said they just cannot fit him into the schedule.

Um, I'm more than frustrated at this point. So, #2 is referring us to #3 doc, which was my choice of an ortho surgeon in the first place... but our HMO mandates a referral for this to be mostly covered, otherwise I would have 100% out of pocket.

So, our lovely HMO and the doc office fiddlefarting around have made him suffer for an additional WEEK PLUS. I am not a happy camper, but am ready to bolt out the door as soon as they fit him in at the new office. We don't even have any new answers because we have not been able to get an MRI or CT yet.

That sounds almost like dealing with the Federal Government bureaucracy. Dealing with human organizations that don't really know much about medicine is a serious nuiance.

Oh Dawn, I"m so sorry to hear about the run-around you guys are getting, sounds like typical burocrachy, I'll wish you guys well & that they get him in soon. Poor guy, suffering for no good reason because of these *****s. Hope he gets into the doc that you really want to see & that it's covered 100% for you guys. I'll be praying that you do get him in soon. He's lucky to have you, at least you can help him out some. Damn those HMO's are a pain the ***. We might be going broke, but national health up here is alot easier; mind you, the wait to see a specialist can be 6 months, the only other way is to go to ER at a hospital & then alot of the time they just send you back to your doctor. So guess your way is alot faster.

GOOD LUCK@ (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
By the way that zuccini bread smells wonderful!

Ok, here comes another "watch your P's and Q's" day ... working on hunting down the 3rd doc that hubby referred to... finally got a live person on the line at 1:01 p.m. today... the call-taker for the group of docs in that building... this #3 doc office had lost electricity, probably due to something going on a couple blocks away on Main Street downtown...

So I had a horrible headache after picking Carlye up (from the heat, spent too much time in yard today, know better)... had to lay down for a nap, and asked Carl if he was up to calling them back...

He did. ID's self, spells long last name, gives credentials, and they say "Dr. yaddayadda doesn't want to deal with a case like this, so we're referring you to Dr. so-and-so".

WHAT?!?

Carl says "ok, so she was the 3rd doctor I was referred to, and apparently there is something wrong on that Xray, so what exactly is my case? (meaning diagnosis)"

THEY WOULD NOT TELL US! Ooooh, I am so steaming mad right now, I am about ready to be kickin' butt and takin' names. IF this is some case where he needs surgery (which we have NO idea yet!) and its been waylayed for the flippin reason that these docs (orthopaedic surgeons!) don't want a failed surgery on their record (because his back injury is pre-existing, so fixing the NEW problem doesn't fix HIM)... I have already resolved that I will go to the AMA and file full complaints on every one of these doctors for willful neglect of a patient in pain.

I am so stinkin' mad ... no, downright angry ... right now that I could spit nails on fire

I cannot even get into an ortho surgeon ON OUR OWN without knowing his diagnosis... Even tho it would be 100% out of our pocket cost, I want him out of pain!

Having dealt with HMO before, I don't think it was Carl's diagnosis that the 3rd doctor refused to treat. Most specialists, especially surgeons, don't like/want to take on HMO cases; however, that doesn't make it right for them to say what they did.
Dawn, you can report this office to the HMO board. They have to investigate whether it truly was Carl's diagnosis that they refused to treat, and if so, then they shouldn't be on the approved doctor list.

Will I hope you get to the bottom of what is going on & that you follow up on Gina's suggestion. I have no idea why they'd refer him to another specialist, you're going to have to find out and knowing you, you will. I'm so sorry he's having to go through all this with the pain he's going through. Can't you let his family doc know what's going on? Or are you on your own that way? I'm praying it all gets sorted & he gets seen asap. Can't blame you for being mad enough to spit fire! Good luck tomorrow!

wow, Carlye had her first performance with her Steel Drum Ensemble today ... they sounded awesome! ... since my dragons like the piano and autoharp and flute so much (Crash likes the viola too), I will have to play the video on my TV and see how he reacts LOL ~ if you aren't familiar with steel drums, think Calypso music... Island music... it was cool having live entertainment at "market" today :)

I'm sure it sounded wonderful. Good job, Carlye!
You'll have to videotape your crew listening to the music, so we could see their reactions.

Wow Dawn, you are REALLY getting the run around. Unfortunately, with HMO's you do need insurance referrals otherwise the office visits will not be covered. BUT, since some doctors are refusing to see or treat him, you can let your insurance company know and they should handle it and find out why he isn't able to get seen for an appt. Also, his primary MD should be doing all this legwork, not the 2 of you, that's what PCP's are all about and are meant to do.

At our office (even though it is pediatric), I make the phone calls to the specialist offices and do the insurance referrals as well as getting Prior Authorizations for testing, etc. So, I highly recommend that you put the ball back in their court so they can do what they should be doing and get the diagnosis so an appt can be set up with the correct specialist. The Ortho's could get into BIG trouble if the insurance company finds out that they are refusing to see or treat him. That's why HMO's are so expensive because the insurance companies are supposed to be totally involved with the patient's care as well as the primary doctors. You are not getting the help and Carl isn't getting the care that you are both paying top dollar for.

I'm glad you were able to give good advise to Dawn, Diane. That's something wouldn't have known since I don't work in your field. I hope she can stop getting the run-around with her medical professionals.

I hope she can too. I'm tired so hopefully I explained clearly what I was trying to say.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
