I made him a new enclosure last week and since i put him in it, he has refused to come out from under his rock and sit in the basking lamp. Is this normal. what should i do.

I think everyone is going to want to know what UVB are you using? Basking temps? Distance from UVB to basking zone?

This is the Setup.
Im using a Zilla t5 50 strip bulb and a regular heat lamp as the basking zone. It is about 110 right under the basking zone and around 87 on the cool side of the cage. Its about 10 inches from basking lamp to the cage ground and about 8 inches from basking zone to basking rock.

Everything looks spot on excepting a couple of things for me. The UVB Bulb your using isn't the recommended bulb for BDragons. The majority vote on this site is going to say to use the ZooMed Reptisun 10.0 UVB bulb.

Your cool side temp range is a little higher then mine but it's not bad from what I see. I am not a fan of the sand or the Temp Guage your using. I would suggest you invest in an IR Temp Gun or a Digital Probe Thermometer. Their have been reports on this site that the Spring coil type your using can be off by as much as 20*F in any direction. This could be the case. And for the sand I mentioned that in your other thread.

These are the Thermometers I am using.

PS. Disclaimer: I haven't much experience with these things and am basically just regurgitating information I have been told and have read on this site.

In my opinion, your BD can not get anywhere near close enough to be receiving any effective UVB. Very little is emitted off the ends. Check the spectrum chart or recommended Min/Max distances on the box it came with, that is rated off the center of the bulb & keep in mind that the strength & distance dissipates rather quickly with the age of the bulb.

The inside of that rock would be like an oven under the basking bulb, with no air flow inside it.

While that may be the case, it is not the only bulb that works.

Agreed, But the way I see it. If this is the Tried and True Bulb and since their all in roughly the same price range, Why not get what has been proven to work?

Bearded dragons respond differently to having their tanks rearranged, and being put into an entirely new tank. Since you just put him in his new enclosure last week, and since this behavior just happened since putting him in the new tank, I would guess that he has some relocation stress and needs to get acclimated to his new environment.

When I moved my 7 month old Scarlet from a spare room to the bedroom, she started hiding on her cool side and trying to sleep in any dark area of the tank. She stopped basking all together. I have a new ReptiSun 10.0, my temps are perfect, yadda yadda. She was stressed and it took about two weeks for her to behave like her old self.

When I would see her hiding or sleeping in the dark corner of the cool side, I would pick her up and put her under her basking lamp or on her hammock. I did that maybe 4 times a day. She's fine now. I would give your dragon time to adjust.

I had switched from an old UVB to a desert stip 50 T8 bulb and all of a sudden my 10yr old dragon wouldn't come out either. This bulb gives off wavelengths of UVB that may cause burns to your beardies eyes/skin. I reccomend turning off the UVB and see if he comes out to bask. If so then you know you will have to replace the UVB. Arcadia makes a 12% T5 UVB you can purchase it at www.lightyourreptiles.com. It is truly a great bulb which will give sufficient UVB for a good year or more.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
