BD won't switch to bigger basking rock

Hello, my bearded dragon started getting a little big for his basking rock and platform that I made for him. So I made a bigger one for Christmas with a big flat rock. But he hates it. I switched the sides that they where on and he kept running back to the cool side trying to be on his rock with his head on the branch. This is how he sleeps. When he was on the hot side with the big rock he was freaking out running into the glass. His temps where good the new platform it slightly higher making the temp 104. When I put his little rock on the big plateform he's completely chill again. I really wanna get him adjusted to the new rock. Any ideas?

All dragons have their favorite fixtures (he loves his little rock) and, you can't change it without a fight. Switching ends confuses them so my suggestion would be to put the new BIG rock under the Little rock W/O changing ends. You get what you want and, he gets what he wants....Problem solved, (maybe)!!!

I put the little rock back under the basking rock I couldn't watch him freak out any more

I have the big rock on the cold side. This is a decent idea Im worried him getting iny closer to the light though.

Put his favorite rock closer to the source if you’re worried - but if its his favorite rock - it’s a fight you shouldn’t even try to win... it’s his favorite. You dont take a kids blanket away, so don’t take the dragons favorite rock....
