arm waving

hi i just got a new dragon and he does not seem to arm wave is there a problem?

I'm pretty new here, but just thought I'd offer that our bd has never waved either. From what I've read here, while it's COMMON behavior for juveniles and females, it's not a foregone conclusion, if you will. We're not sure if our beardie is male or female as of yet. In either case, he/she has never given us "the wave." He/she is about 4 1/2 months.

I hear ya. When we first got our beardie, we went online and found LOTS of information; most of it conflicting, confusing and at times, confounding! *sigh* These forums have cleared so much up for us, and as of this week, our previously struggling beardie is no longer struggling. So hang in there. There is a lot to learn, and to know, but after sometime reading (and for us, adjusting things), it's starts to become much less intimidating. Now that our viv is up and running well, I feel like we finally have a good routine, and we're starting to relax, and enjoy more.

Arm waving is almost always done to a reflection, another dragon, or to you if they feel a little intimidated by you. Don't be concerned if they don't do it. Gibby only does it to himself when he's feeling weird (I think I've seen him do it twice in 3 years), Dora only does it when she sees Gibby, and Miss Priss never does it at all. It's completely dependent on the personality of your dragon.

I always giggle when I see your posts about Gibby. My son, who happens to be 8, is nicknamed Gibby (well that's what *I* call him). When I told him there was an 8 year old bd on the forum named Gibby, he just LOVED that.

Our bd (Gibby's technically, but I like to bogart the little guy as often as possible) is "Cloudy" . . . who happens to have a very sunny personality. :mrgreen:

LOL, well, I'm sure your son has a more flattering real name! Gibby's name is "Giblet". I have no idea why since he was named by his first owners. I like to pretend his real name is "Gibson" like the guitars.

Gibby is indeed, Gibson. And when he was a baby, our friends nicknamed him "The Giblet." LOL :!: His real name technically comes from main the character in the movie, "The Sure Thing." However, the guitar, an interesting side note, is the usual assumption of "inspiration" by others, because DH plays, and he does indeed own a Les Paul. :mrgreen:
