Hello,

Yes, it "can" be reversible but you do need to get a new UVB light & get some liquid calcium, as well.
Which UVB light are you using currently? The best one is the Reptisun 10 flourescent tube bulb, or get the Megaray or the T-rex active UV heat which are mercury vapor bulbs.
How old is your dragon?

Hes going on two and hasnt had a problem before.. I am going to order a megaray bulb today because I was told they are better then the retisun 10.0. Right now i have a reptiglo 10.0 uvb, and will dust calcium do the trick? He hasnt been wanting to eat his crickets lately, but has been eating some greens today

Hello,

Yeah, unfortunately, the Reptiglo 10 flourescent tube bulbs are just not doing it. They either cause eye problems if enough bright white light is not used or they are too close, or they are not providing adequate UVB emissions which is your case.
The wavelength that they put out is not conducive to D3 synthesis, so, over time their bone density & calcium levels will fall because she has not been able to properly absorb her calcium.
I totally agree, if your tank is large enough then most definitely get a Megaray, they are the best. That is all we use.
Do switch over to the liquid calcium for awhile though, it will help tremendously! :D
Let us know how she is doing.

Hello,

Well, they both have advantages. I personally use the SB, just so I only have to use one basking light instead of two.
The EB is great though because the warranty is for a longer period & I believe that the UVB is just a tad stronger. However, you do have to use another basking light in conjunction with it as it is not enough of a heat producer alone.
It also depends on your tank setup & how you want everything to look, fixtures, etc & a place to put the ballast.

hmm, well how does the ballast work? does it just sit there on the floor, and plug into the light itself? And can I put the EB in a clamp fixture?

Hello,

The SB is easily installed simply by screwing the bulb into a ceramic based light fixture & plugging it in. The EB is still pretty easy. The ballast plugs into the wall, & has an outlet on it in which you plug the cord from the light fixture into the ballast, since you do need another basking light.
So, it is still easy to do, it just takes a little more work, that's all.
Yes, the ballast just basically sits on the floor. I would put it on something for ventilation like a little glass dish or something because the ballast does get relatively hot since it regulates & holds the electricity for the light power.
