Anyone tried the Instant Meal?

Has anyone tried the instant meals they have for Bearded Dragons? I found some on reptile supplies for .67cents each and it looks like a full meal. They have veggie ones as well.

They come in handy in a pinch, but I wouldn't use them as a staple. They would be easy vacation food though.
Once Dudley is eating normally again, I'll probably buy one of the big containers of it so I can add a little of it too his regular salad once in a while, for variety.

If you get some though, get the kind for Iguanas. It's the same as the Beardie kind, but with out those nasty freeze dried bugs.

Thanks, but wouldnt the nasty freeze dried bugs be better to have it in the salad? I mean better for beardie, but worse for mommy

No, IMO they do more harm than good. I've actually heard of beardies choking on them. Plus, freeze drying them leaves them with next to no nutrition... So your beardie would pretty much just be getting a mouth full of nasty exoskeleton.

I add the freezedried veggies and fruit (put warm water in to rehydrate) on top of the salad everyday. I don't use the kind with the freezedried worms... just the veggies and fruit.

I also add the gel cubes for bearded dragons and a pinch of some softgel paste made with apples, etc.

I admit mine are a little spoiled, but I try to make sure there is lots of variety.

I find she eats a little of everything now that she is getting bigger.

I don't like the pelleted feed, neither does she

Dudley likes those squishy red cubes too! I think mine expired though... I need more when he starts eating again.

hey, what freeze dried veggies, and gel cubes are you talking about? and "where can I get them?" i need to try anything i can to get my baby to eat.

Clovis seems to enjoy the freeze-dried bugs. I put a few in his salad like croutons and he crunches them right down. However, he ignores the lovely turnip greens or collards. Jerk. (Clovis, not you. XD)

Yeah, some of them actually do. But the freeze dried bugs that come in the Instant Meal are grass hoppers and meal worms... dried crickets aren't as bad, because their shell isn't so darn thick. I bought the Instant Meal with the grass hoppers, and those things are freakin' solid LOL. And meal worms... Well, we all know about the issues with those!

I am not as much of a fan of the grasshoppers and mealies, although Clovis certainly is. The only dried bugs I've been able to find are a mealie/grasshopper/cricket mix. I don't mind him getting a few dried mealies every day for now because I'm cutting back on his bug intake; I suspect he's getting on towards adulthood now and should start daggone well eatin' his salads instead of hanging on for buggies every night. I've tried to find straight dried crickets and haven't had much luck, so if you see any let me know!
