The clinic that my vet works at is actually in charge of exotic animal care at Petland now. They makes store visits periodically. I will mention this little one to them when I am there tomorrow.

Thank you! Would he take it for a rescue if no one wanted it? They had at least 10 in there and as far as I can tell, he's the last one left

I told him about it this morning and he is going to check to see if it is already under the care of one of the vets at the clinic or not. He told me that any animal that doesn't get sold from Petland ends up going home with one of the employees. I'll check back with him on Friday when I'm there next to see what the situation is.

Aw thank you so much! Im sure the beardie is healthy, I just wasnt sure who would buy it, besides someone who loves them. I used to be able to sit there and watch the other ones attack it. It was very sad.

I was in the pet store visiting the little baby (among other things) and took some pictures. Sorry they are cell phone pictures. Isn't he beautiful!?

Of course not, sorry that they aren't very good. But I've seen pictures of bearded dragons who've lost feet and they dont look like that.
But he is so beautiful! And I've definitely seen him grow too which is good.

Is there a way you can file a complaint against petland? The dragons (among other animals) at the petland in market mall are disgusting. They have a breeding pair of adult dragons in disgusting conditions. And atleast 20 tine (4-5") babies all stuck together with dark stress marks on their bellies. so sad

If that doesn't produce a response quickly, I would talk to the humane society and you can probably make a complaint about them.

From my experience working in a petland, Market Mall Petland has always had by far the worst conditions for any of their animals. They are very bad at cleaning out the kennels/cages in a timely fashion. The kennel techs when I worked at crowfoot had to check the kennels every 15 minutes, or if any other employee saw that one was dirty you had to tell them so they could clean it.

I'm sure I'm not the only past or present employee to have noticed the lower standards in that one store, and their head office was supposed to be doing regular visits on all of the Calgary stores, so I'm not too sure if talking to them at that level is going to accomplish much.

True. But you have to go through channels before the Humane Society will do anything. Also, unfortunately, I find that in general, the Humane Society is not as concerned with the welfare of exotics as with that of dogs and cats.
