Hello Minnie. i understand exctly what you mean as i am a new owner (only had mine a couple of days) i am still nervous but its the same with anything, it just takes time, i know it sounds weird but even tho i have only had my baby for a few days i can already tell when something is not right, you pick up on things very quickly. aslong as you have read through this site and have listened to all the advice that is on here (which im sure you have) you will be fine and will be a great owner/slave lol. and as always, everyone on here is just a mouse click away, this place has been invaluable to me :)

good luck and dont worry :)

Thx. You know what it's like thou. You get so much conflicting info from people, especially when it comes to viv temps. I spoke to my breeder today & he said to have the
1. cool end at 82f
2. basking spot at 95f
3. gradient of around 80f
4. Turn all lamps off at night & not prob if temp drops to 65f

What confuses me is that I have been told 3-4 diff temp settings ?? It's hard to know what to do for the best :?

Thx for the advice. I feel a bit lost at the mo & just want to get it right. My heat source is a 100w reflector lamp. I did ask the breeder about using a heat mat if the temp dips below 65f at night, and he said not to put it in the viv, but against the side on the outside if that makes sense

Cant say ive ever heard of putting it against the viv to be honest, i know they are not to be used inside the viv though.
Im in London and have never had any problems with the temps dropping too low

I would recommend a temp of around 105 for a baby - they tend to like it a bit hotter. By the way, you will never stop being nervous although it does get a bit easier. George will be 2 in April and I still worry

You'll be please to know I brought my baby home this morning from the breeder. I have since reading your comments upped the basking temp a bit for him. His name is Larry, he's about 8 wks old and is a Hypo/Snow :p I left him to warm up for a bit & he has already eaten some crickets from my hand

How often & how much do I feed him? The breeder has given me locusts & crickets.

You need to feed him 2-3 times per day, as much as he will eat in 5-10 minutes at a time - this should amount to 50+crickets a day. Congrats on Larry btw :D It's great that he's eating for you straight away

Thx  I was soo chuffed when he took them out of my fingers lol

I have dusted his 1st feed of crickets with Nutrobal, should I be doin this for 1 feed of crickets out of 3 per day for 5 days & the T-Rex VMF dragon dust on his veggies for 1 feed per day on the other 2 days? :?

Hello

My name is Sarah (Sez). I bought my beardie Puff (original I know) in December 08 so still very new to it all. Hes my first reptile and hes around 5-6 months.

I live in Didcot, Oxfordshire. Really lucky living here we have a massive power station and a railway centre, both famous! Ha ha can you sense the sarcasm?

Anyway I'll write more soon when I've not got 10 mins left of work before the weekend!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
